About me:
Since 1953, the Alleghany Highlands Arts Council has carried out its mission of presenting live, professional, multi-discipline performing arts events to the residents of Covington, Clifton Forge, Alleghany County and Bath County.
The organization exists to enhance the quality of life in the Alleghany Highlands in the following ways:
-1) Meeting the needs of area residents to have access to affordable, high-quality performing arts events without having to travel outside the area.
-2) Exposing local audiences to varied art forms so they may learn appreciation for all genres and respect for multi-cultural experiences.
-3) Allowing area school systems to supplement curriculum with artistic and cultural activities that might otherwise be unavailable to local students.
-4) Providing a vital cultural element to the quality of life in order to help attract new residents and prospective industries to our region.
-5) Nurturing and showcasing local talent through sponsorship of The Alleghany Highlands Chorale, Alleghany Highlands Orchestra and Alleghany Community Theatre.
