Theres an onstage buzz about the current line up. The band members are Allen Gogarty on vocals and guitar, Aaron Brooks on drums, Dean Marchi on double bass and Wilson Montuori on lead guitar. Allen met Brooks in An Beal Bocht and Marchi was referred by another drummer. Montuori turned up at a gig and knew Allens music from a bootleg recording of a rehearsal session Marchi had recorded - and the band clicked.
The latest album, Creature, will be launched in New York in March of this year and should be available in Ireland this summer, following the launch in New York. The new songs include A New Path, Creature, First Light, Grace of Time, Not Really Troubled Times, Angel Disguised and A Bards Lot. Of the lyrical content, the songs have a personal meaning, covering everything from playing music, life, love and day-to-day experiences.
GOGARTY:
To call Allen Gogarty a singer songwriter would not justify the versatility of style he possesses. Mixing a strong Irish spirit with dynamic vocals and a creative range of ideas, Allen weaves a unique melody through every composition, leaving the audiences blissful and curious, anticipating every song. His numerous credits include opening “Susan Vega” and “Status Quo”.
After touring through Europe with “Native Tongue” and the Donegal-based “Stone River”, Allen finds himself in New York playing at venues; Arlene’s Grocery, An Beal Bocht Café, The Red Lion, The National Underground and Ulysses with a band best described as a perfect storm.
On lead guitar is Wilson Montouri, a renaissance man straight from Florence, Italy. With phenomenal insight and beautiful licks, Wilson joins the ranks of talented lefties, who have brought music to another level.
Dean Marchi, on bass guitar is an encyclopedic mind with fingers to match. An ideal companion to share a pint, Dean brings the group a poetic passion and profound knowledge of music and musicians as well as a spirited soul.
Anchor of the band is drummer, Aaron A. Brooks with a fascinating ability to reinvent timekeeping. The pacemaker of the band, Aaron pumps tribal blood through its heart with a sound that is at once feral, esoteric and immaculately polished.
AARON BROOKS
Aaron started his musical career in the thriving 80's punk and new wave scene of San Francisco, drumming for punk/new wave/ska luminaries The Dead Kennedys, Wire Train and The Uptones. After moving to Los Angeles in 1989, Aaron began recording for Capital and Disney's Hollywood Records with his new band, Circle of Soul.
Aaron's next gig was in as the drummer for a solo Duff McKagen of Guns N Roses/Velvet Revolver, touring for two-years alongside heavy metal icons The Scorpions on their 1993-95 world tour. During this time, he had the opportunity to perform with Duff on the first live simulcast of MTV's Headbangers Ball.
Currently, Aaron has been acting as co-musical director and drummer for the off-Broadway, Big Gorilla production of "The Penny4Eyes Rock & Roll Show". He has also been recording and performing as the drummer for the acclaimed NY band Allan Gogarty & The Wads.
Aaron has been playing drums professionally for 20 years and had his first drum lesson with John Bonham, whom he counted along with Keith Moon, Mick Fleetwood, Elvin Jones and Tony Williams, as his early mentors, friends and influences. Aaron currently lives in New York City.
