Allison Cipris (pronounced Cy-Press) grew up on stage. She started performing at a young age in musical theater, but knew early on that her rock and roll heart could not be tamed. After spending a couple of years developing her chops and stage presence as a session and backing vocalist in the U.S. and abroad with everyone from Cy Coleman to Richie Sambora, she got tired of singing for other people and wound up back home in New York City determined to devote all of her time and energy to her own music.
During the past couple of years, Allison has emerged on her own as a gifted songwriter and powerhouse performer, carrying on the lineage of Joss Stone, Sass Jordan, Sheryl Crow, and Melissa Etheridge before her. Whether she is alone onstage with her guitar or in front of her band, her shows stick with you long after the last encore. She can hush the room with her intimacy, blow out its back wall with raw intensity, break your heart and fix it again, all in one 45 minute set.
Allison’s signature blend of sexy grit and sass shines through in the video for "Break" from her 2005 full-length debut, Not Like You. After spending 2006 touring to support that effort, Allison returned to the studio in December and recorded the old Motels classic "Only The Lonely". Work on her follow-up full-length release has already begun in New York, Atlanta, and Los Angeles. Allison will return to the stage in the spring, including an opening slot for the Gin Blossoms at Princeton University and her debut Central Park concert in New York.
Recent accomplishments have included:
* 2005 and 2006 ASCAPlus award recipient in the pop/rock category
* Billboard magazine/Songwriters Hall of Fame New Writers Showcase winner
* Sharing the bill with Gavin DeGraw and Jason Mraz, sponsored by Sirius radio.
* Opening for Ben Jelen at the NY International Auto Show (asked to perform an additional show the following night!)
*Women Who Rock Magazine sponsored concert to benefit the Rock 'n Roll Camp for Girls
* An exhaustive schedule of club and concert dates
