Love to read, watch movies, spend time with friends, same ol' stuff.
Theatre: I have a hard time saying its my interest, b/c it's my main interest and I spend alot of time doing it. Thinking of it more as a job that I like. Wish it was my actual job, but it's not b/c it doesn't pay all that well (yet).
The arts in general. I worked for a theatre service organization and I've gotten involved in a lot of arts funding information, etc. I support art, music, theatre, movies, etc as much as possible.
Currently, very much wanting to take up cartography (handwriting analysis). Obviously, it is not the only way to read people, but I find it fascinating. Plus, people actually make money from it...maybe as a side job?
Fascinating artists and how their work relates to their life. I know that's every artist's story, but there are some that pop out to me: Georgia O'Keefe, Frida. The whole love triangle of John Everett Millais, Effie Gray & John Ruskin.
Music
Many musicals. Not fond of rap.
Bands: Sally Majestic, Santana, Dave Matthews, Asleep at the Wheel, Maroon 5, Five for Fighting
Singers: Norah Jones, Natalie Merchant, Sarah McLaughlan, Tracy Chapman,Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks, Damien Rice, Eric Clapton
Grew up with Jazz and Blues influence from my Biker parents. And musicals thanks to my mom, so I love alot of old standards. Not an expert on anything, but will listen with joy.
Songs I love on my profile:
Case of You by Joni Mitchell
something from 28 Days Later
Brown Eyed Girl
Mary Black
Family Tradition
Collide (Howie Day)
Dancin' in the Moonlight
Movies
Hmmm...where to begin?
Lot of classics: Bringing Up Baby, Philadelphia Story, Singin in the Rain, Breakfast Club, Pretty Woman, Sixteen Candles, Princess Bride, Empire Records, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (not b/c of Kevin Costner), Pride & Prejudice (A&E & Miramax), Bridget Jones, Romeo & Juliet (Baz), Love Actually (if you haven't seen the cut scene with the farting, you've got to). Finding Nemo, 28 Days Later .
Television
Don't get to watch until late night, so Friends, Will & Grace, Sex & the City, Arrested Development.
Liked the one episode of Lost I've seen. There's one show I will not admit to watching, unless you watch it too. Wish I could watch more of Studio 60 and Ugly Betty :(
HATE HATE HATE reality TV. Its not real people. Only way to do that is to film people w/o their knowing it.
Not very interested in TV right now.
Books
I love them.
Books that always stick out: Perks of Being a Wallflower (Thanks to Adam and Beth).
About a Boy. Fanny Faye and the Miracle Man (I love southern storytellers), so also the Ya-Ya Sisterhood (the more solid of the 3). Harry Potter. Everything by Roald Dahl (adult and children).
I like the classics. I've read Frankenstein 3 times, every three years for school (5th gr, 8th, and 11th). Jane Eyre, Jane Austen stuff (though Austen gets all mixed up in my head). SARK stuff (that woman is amazing). The Stranger and The Metamorphosis.
I liked the history of Coca-Cola, which I read for Economics.
Children's Books (my mother teaches pre-school, and I love the humor):
The Mare on the Hill (a beautifully illustrated simple story that I fell in love with in elementary school). The Big Hungry Bear. I still love The Westing Game.
Heroes
My friend Jenny in NYC- she's amazing and so grown up. So brave forever and strong in her opinions and actions. You have to admire her.
Elizabeth for going to Grad school in her craft.

Alishizzah!!! The Leveling Factor...
A Case of You, by Joni Mitchell
Just before our love got lost you said
"I am as constant as a northern star"
And I said, "Constant in the darkness
Where's that at?
If you want me I'll be in the bar"
On the back of a cartoon coaster
In the blue TV screen light
I drew a map of Canada
Oh Canada
And I sketched your face on it twice
Oh you are in my blood like holy wine
Oh and you taste so bitter but you taste so sweet
Oh I could drink a case of you
I could drink a case of you darling
Still I'd be on my feet
I'd still be on my feet
Oh I am a lonely painter
I live in a box of paints
I'm frightened by the devil
And I'm drawn to those ones that ain't afraid
I remember that time that you told me, you said
"Love is touching souls"
Surely you touched mine
Cause part of you pours out of me
In these lines from time to time
Oh you are in my blood like holy wine
And you taste so bitter but you taste so sweet
Oh I could drink a case of you
I could drink a case of you darling
Still I'd be on my feet
I'd still be on my feet
I met a woman
She had a mouth like yours
She knew your life
She knew your devils and your deeds
And she said
"Go to him, stay with him if you can
Oh but be prepared to bleed"
Oh but you are in my blood you're my holy wine
Oh and you taste so bitter but you taste so sweet
I could drink a case of you darling
Still I'd be on my feet
Still I'd be on my feet
I'd still be on my feet
Allison: This is me. I love completely and wholey(sp?). Even if its not returned, it's there. Whether I like it or not.
I've lately been pondering how it sucks to actually think that you will be treated the way you treat others, in life and in love. Leads to a great deal of disappointment. And for a sensitive someone who worries alot, that's bad news. Therefore- I'm no good at dating. Everyone's got a vice, right? And we constantly try to better ourselves, don't we? Well, I do :) Here's a toast to DETERMINATION!
Who I'd like to meet: Interesting people- who wouldn't?
SARK (of How to be an Artist fame)- I have four of her books and give them as gifts to people who need them.
the friend in me is mentally sending you a nice warm blanket and hot chocolate with kalua. my inner mom is saying "don't forget to button your coat! do you have your scarf on? how 'bout your gloves? it's cold out there you know!" Stay warm sweetie!
i got your message, but i don't have my phone to call you. it is not here. so give the tix to someone who is smart and keeps there phone with them. they deserve it.
I dunno at this point. I think ok? We are still trying to figure it out - and at this point - I'm just in need of some sleep. Long @$$ week. What's new in your hood?
I am going to be in Jasper all weekend with no phone reception, so call me before Friday when you are not working, rehearsing, drinking...whatever it is you do in Chicago without me
Ha! I never thought about it, but I guess punctuation does render the statement "Beam Me Up, Jesus is bananas" rather ambiguous.
The key to it, of course, is Where The Caps Are. "Beam me up, Jesus is bananas" would mean the other thing. It would also be a run-on sentence, which would cost me half a letter grade. O, cruel were the Jesuits.
So, what kinds of trouble did you cause for your birthday? I'll try to call you tonight if I get home from work at a decent hour so that you can update me on all the celebration fun.
happy happy birthday! texas is soooooooooo much less fun without you! and damn! they are doin' TOMMY at the theatre center! remember our wonderful show? those were great times!
