Driving rhythms, fiery guitar playing, and layered harmonies all play a part in creating the multifaceted AllofaSudden sound. While hard to pin into one specific genre, a keen sense of melody and unforced psychedelia pervade everything AOS does, from big rock choruses to dirty grooves to subtly twisting progressions.
The three-headed monster songwriting team of Tyler Shusterman, Sean Stringfellow, and Andrew Henning offers the listener a variety of interpretations of the American rock tradition "I see us kind of like a baseball team with three star pitchers," says Tyler. "Sean's the fastball pitcher. He hits you with solid grooves right in the strike zone. I'm more of a junk pitcher. My songs have all kinds of curves and slides that can end up somewhere completely different than where they started. I guess that would make Andrew a knuckleballer. His songs sneak up on you in unexpected ways, but there's something about them that just makes me think of the good old days."
Each songwriter taps into different lyrical veins but they all trade in evocative imagery, conjuring lascivious she-devils, paranoid partygoers, and hapless swindlers in songs that offer equal amounts of introspection, humor, and insight. An AOS show uses these songs as a launching pad for energetic performances that can include surprising covers, extended improvisations, and natural showmanship.
