True Justice, aka The Man of Steel, has been a pioneer in the Bay Area Hip Hop scene since 1989. These days(if you are lucky) you can catch this extra ordinary DJ state to state tearing clubs down. In spite of the constant packing the crates and being Out, True manages to hold down two popular live performance venues in his home region: The Bay Area, Califoolyah! This DJs ambition is to showcase the amount of talent that he has encountered in the last 17 years. While still in high school, True Justice was a hip hop dancer for the Oakland, Ca super-group A.P.G.(Action Packed Gangstas). At the age of 16, he found himself doing concerts with the likes of Digital Underground, Capital Tax, Paris, and K-Cloud and witnessing first hand the birth of the independent hip hop game in the culturally rich Bay Area. From 1989-91, True studied the groups master DJ J-Cutt as he amazed crowds night after night with his show stealing solo routines with two turntables, a mixer, and two copies of the same record. When he arrived in Berkeley in 1992, True Justice(then known as DJ Skillz), traded his patent leather shoes for two Technic turntables and a Gemini mixer. For years you could see True selling cassette tapes on Telegraph Avenue alongside present day favorites Living Legends, Saafir, and the Hobo Junction. In 1996 True formed the All Purpose DJs with Lord Takim, DJ Styles, and DJ Lex. That same year he began a career of being an exciting show DJ, first with Dream Nefra then going on to work with Mic T, AceyAlone & Abstract Rude, Asop, Planet Asia, and currently LCJ and Tekitha of the Wu Tang Clan. As a duo True Justice and DJ Lex released Volume 1in 1997, Aural Sex Volume 2 in 1998, AP2K, in 2000, and Pound Fa Pound in 2004. All releases quickly became local classics. The All Purpose DJs have excited crowds with icons such as Slick Rick, Biz Markie, Notorious B.I.G., Xzibit, Phife, Keak Da Sneak, Above The Law, and E-40. In 2001, True released the flawless CD The Man of Steel. 2004 brought the highly successful and ground breaking release Pound Fa Pound. This masterpiece featured over 35 Bay Area artists and was responsible for True and Lex touring in Osaka, Japan. On May 2nd, 2004, All Purpose managed to set a record for rocking the best club night in the history of Sam and Dave2. In 2006, True Justice alongside longtime collaborator, LCJ founded Showtime @ 11, a live performance venue for up and comers and seasoned vets alike. As you read this, there are projects in the works with The All Purpose DJs, LCJ, and more from the Man of Steel series. Be on the lookout for www.allpurposedjs.biz
