So I put a bunch of my Transformers stuff on eBay, and all my auctions end right before the Allspark's 10th birthday. I didn't really do that on purpose, but it seems appropriate.
So, I'm going to see the Transformers movie tonight. Wow, I'm excited. I'm also in the middle of packing up my stuff for a big move, and I ended up eBaying off several of my old Beast Wars Transformers. I will miss them, but I need the space.
I was thinking about the old days today. The Allspark was founded it what really was the absolute lowest point in all of Transformers history, am I right? It's so nice to see how awesome the last few years of it all have been, though, an I like to think that it's really because of the fans.
The thing that I've been flipping over lately is the use of "Allspark" in more recent Transformers media. Back in the Beast Wars days, it was barely referred to, and "Matrix" was the more common term. Somewhere in the course of the comics and whatnot, I guess that changed (forgive me here, I've been somewhat out of touch for a long time). Now, the "Allspark" is the focal point for this big freakin' blockbuster movie!
There is very little I can take credit for as far as the Allspark is concerned (in fact, taking credit for stuff is something that got me into a lot of trouble way back when - I'd act much differently if I had it to do again), but naming the website is the one thing that I feel comfortable saying that I did. Okay, along with a couple of friends...but I digress. "Allspark" is a term that I feel was brought more into mainstream use in the Transformers universe as a partial result of this fantastic community's powerful presence. Seeing actors in a huge Hollywood film being paid to use the word "Allspark" is incredibly thrilling for me. It takes me right back to 1999.
Greg, I have probably said this before, but I'll say it again: I turned out to be monumentally bad at handling a website. You, however, proved to be fantastic. If it weren't for you and others, the Allspark would be nothing. I and to thank you, and tell you I'm very proud of what it's become.
...and the name. the name is cool. ;)
