It was 1995 when Kelvin Gumbs first entered the music scene as the emcee named K-Roc. He only became a producer out of necessity stating, “No one was able to replicate the sound I had in my head. I quickly realized that if I wanted to get things done the way I wanted I would need to do it myself.”
As one half of the now defunct Branded Black, he purchased an Akai MPC 2000, started create digging and proceeded to produce their first single “Enta’ tha’ Session” (1996), their follow-up album “Archeology” (1999) and their final single “Elevation” (2000).
Branded Black was able to gain a cult following years later. The Hip Hop scene in Europe took notice of the obscure duo hailing from Pickering, Ontario, Canada (better known as East 905) and thus their music experienced new life.
The resurgence sparked re-invention and in 2008 K-Roc returned as Alltronic. A producer who brings forth a flurry of hypnotic, head nodding beats created in the tradition of Branded Black yet always looking toward the horizon of a new future for Electronic music.
This eclectic mix of Electronic Future Music, B-Boy Electro, Techno and Hip Hop culminate into what has been dubbed Alltronic. It's DJ Premier meets Kraftwerk. It's Alltronic and it cannot be heard, it can only be experienced.
