GLSEN and student clubs (many commonly known as Gay-Straight Alliances or GSAs) will be celebrating GLSEN’s 5th Annual Ally Week October 19 - 23 2009, in schools and communities nationwide.
During Ally Week, students and clubs will help kick-off the school year by identifying and supporting Allies who are committed to addressing anti-LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) bullying and harassment in America’s schools. Ally Week is about identifying and supporting allies in your school and asking them to sign the Ally Pledge to intervene in bullying and harassment throughout the school year. Your Ally Week activities will be most successful if they help support allies to know how to intervene but also make them feel good and proud to be allies.

Who I'd like to meet: Who we'd Like to Meet
An "ally" is anyone who supports ending anti-LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) bullying, harassment and name-calling in K-12 schools. The term traditionally refers to straight allies. While straight allies are an integral part of GLSEN’s Ally Week, the term "ally" is more inclusive within the safer schools movement. For example, a bisexual adult can be an ally to students, and a lesbian student can be an ally to a transgender student.
About this page: I have been very active in Domestic Violence causes all of my adult life. I noticed a need in the world pertaining to Same Sex Domestic Violence. It happens more than people know. Unfortunately there are a number of gay people who barely consider themselves worthy or valued as a gay person much less a Domestic Violence Victim. There are also very limited resources, statistics, or information, for Same Sex Domestic Violence. Hopefully through empowerment and education we can change some of this. :D

I've been wearing my Pin all week long. I don't know how many times I got stopped and people read it and asked what it was for. I'd say "Something you wouldn't support" and they're like "What?" and I told them it's for the non-straights and transexuals and they usually go "Oh" and walk away. Thank's for sending the pin!!

This Saturday, May 17th @ 10AM Pacific Design Center West Hollywood, CA www. wakeupcampaign. org
The Wake Up Campaign is committed to bridging the gap between churches and all places of worship, and the gay community. We are also devoted to inspiring in all people - a direct experience of the Love and Support that only God can manifest in one's life. Wake Up to the vastness and majesty of God's Love; this Love is embodied in Christ and in all religious leaders that guide their devotees to God's Grace. We too can aspire to give our own love, unconditional of race, creed, nationality, gender, or sexual orientation.
Our event is meant to provoke deep consideration of consequence and damage that the Church's stance on homosexuality has had in breaking apart families, ruining spiritual pursuit in gays, and leaving the gay community broken and unaccepted.
Therefore it is the Mission of the Wake Up Campaign to:
Convey love as the true message of the cross, with the understanding that the cross stands for acceptance, inclusivity and unconditional love. We believe that love brings about healing from rejection and freedom from self-hatred. www. wakeupcampaign. org
