Drawing influence from artists such as N.E.R.D, Asher Roth, The Cool Kids, and Kanye West, Almost Famous write songs that can be played at a party, the club, or anywhere people enjoy listening to fun, clever, and positive hip-hop music.
Almost Famous is a dynamic hip-hop duo from Grand Rapids, MI. The group was formed in 2008 when Gabriel “GOOB” Neikirk and Jeremy “J-ZAV” Zavitz combined their two unique styles of hip-hop.
GOOB creates the music and beats, while both artists construct their own lyrics. J-Zav has the brash, energetic and somewhat sporadic flow, while GOOB is the assured, cool, almost robotic pulse behind the music. This duo has cultivated a refreshing niche in hip-hop music; blending fun, enjoyable party music and hip-hop with a hint of pop.
Almost Famous broke onto the Grand Rapids hip-hop scene in 2009 with multiple performances at The Intersection (one of Michigan’s most respectable venues) and other local spots in West Michigan, and are looking forward to increasing their local fan base to the regional and national level.
The hip-hop two-some recorded their first LP at Mackinaw Harvest Studios in the summer of 2009. They are currently working on their first and self titled album “Almost Famous” to be released in the fall of 2009.
