   About Al O'Kane

Welcome to Al O'Kane's myspace! :)

I have been performing for 10 years. I started by forming Alt/Blues/Folk/Rock band "Mañana Project", we used to rehearse in a west country barn and we recorded 3 EPs. Nowadays I have an ongoing solo project, still with a band sometimes, and involving different people as I move forward and evolve. Meanwhile - I'm always searching for the "right" opportunity and giving everything my best shot!

I'm putting together a NEW BAND at the moment - were called "Oort Cloud Visitors" and our FIRST GIGS are listed above... It's all very tentative & I've only booked us 3 performances, so we can evaluate where it's going after the third and see what everyone thinks. Please come along!

I also gig solo with an acoustic guitar and occasionally with Tessa Bickers - our DEBUT EP IS OUT NOW and one of the songs on this page is on it - "See You Soon".

My continuing aim is to work with and be heard by as many people as possible, to make a difference and to be respected for being me.

Music is my life, my love and my meaning - I am now self employed as a musician, it's not made anything any easier, but I'm living the dream!

The songs I write are based upon my imagination, opinions and experiences in life, whether that's people or situations I've encountered, or an inner exploration on a certain feeling or topic, it all depends on the song and what headspace I’m in when I write.

The general message I aim to put across, (in an underlying, indirect and sometimes abstract way), can be one, or all of the following things; love, peace and respect to ourselves, each other, all living things and our planet...

Anyway, enjoy the music and thanks for visiting... And be sure to order your copy of me and Tessa's debut EP! (see below). I may be releasing a SOLO EP in a couple of months too so watch this space - Things are finally starting to happen!!

Thanks for the comment, Al. I was interested in your connection to Bert Jansch. I miss the early days of John Martyn, Tir Na Nog etc. but today is where we're at and keeping the flame burning. I enjoy your powerful songs and cool voice. Cheers.
