Philadelphia has a lot to offer, but sometimes you just want more. In our case we want to be part of a rich musical heritage, and belong to a community of talented musicians who can appreciate that heritage and share it with others. That's what Alokli is all about.
Alokli is a Philadelphia-based community club. We study and perform traditional dance-drumming styles from the Anlo-Ewe people of southern Ghana and other ethnic groups of West Africa. These are classical music traditions that deserve and require the same respect given to any classical art form, and we do our best to live up to that.
We love to perform, especially at outdoor events and venues where traditional African arts are featured. We are not a jam session, not a drum circle, and our music tends to surprise just about everyone. A typical performance features several styles of drumming, unusual native instruments, lively singing and colorful costumes. If you have an event that could use some excitement, please contact us for more information. Thanks for visiting!

Wow Danny! Thanks so much. Nice mix, great harmonies. I'm getting goosebumps listening to melodies I haven't heard in 12 years. If you haven't already, please donate my share of the royalties into a trust fund for wayward Alokli members.
Actually I spend more time on airplanes now than I did during the stomp tour, but I'm happy to have an address for now. Did you ever finish the songbook we worked on years ago?
Hey Danny what's shakin? Who are all these people called Alokli, and where's the 1? Cheesesteaks and brotherly love all around. You're going in my top friends by the way.
