Alpaca is a dance-fusion project based in Portland, Oregon. In just two years the band has risen to popularity in the Pacific Northwest and has contributed greatly to the live music scene here. When one experiences Alpaca live, they walk away with a fresh perspective on the hybridization of popular dance music genres such as funk, electronica, disco, and trance, all tied together through an elegant weave of meticulous composition and energetic improvisation. Alpaca has shared the stage with Flying Lotus, Daedalus, Big Gigantic, BLVD, Juno What, The Everyone Orchestra, Fareed Haque, KJ Sawka, Lazer Sword, Savoy, Lynx and Jamie Janover, and many others... not to mention playing afterparties for the likes of Sound Tribe Sector 9 and Moe. For the rest of 2009 Alpaca will be performing all around the Pacific Northwest, Northern California, Montana, Idaho, and Colorado, compiling live recordings for an official Live CD Release and working in the studio on their first FULL-LENGTH release, which you will see in 2010. Keep your eyes and ears out for Alpaca this fall/winter and next year as they will be coming through your town.
