About me:

I have always been on the hunt. For the diamond in the rough. But what if the diamond is just a sharp piece of glass that will cut you with tiny slashes until you slowly lose too much blood as you gently admire it and then try to force it to shine........

Who I'd like to meet:

Really? The prior versions of myself to kick them in the ass and tell them to get on with certain things.

Interests

  • General

.....having fun with my friends, the carribbean, research, Helmut Newton, scooby-doo, inside jokes, humanitarian causes, the contrast of green trees and the bluest blue of a summer sky, patchouli, halloween, the oh-so-sweet scent of a newborn baby's skin, political action, tilt-a-whirls, innocence, tainted love, the twilight zone, sunglasses with blue lenses, freedom, conversing intelligently with diverse people, SNL, enlightenment, spending time in the sun, reading, autumnal colors, taking pictures, youth, wisdom, astrology, connections, debate, dancing, thai food, exploring my sensuality, organizing things, parties that begin without a theme but have one by the end, vanilla, summer, kitty cats, chocolate covered strawberries, clubbing, people watching, the cheeks and phrases of a 3-year-old, New Orleans, learning, licking, laughing..... oh, and squirrels!
  • Music

I like to listen to music that reflects my mood. Since my moods are multi-faceted, my music is just as diverse. The only types I have not found a place in my heart for yet are country music, jazz, and heavy metal. Anything else goes, but I seem to gravitate toward powerful, strong, solo female singers of any genre. I am the kind of person that associates music with people and situations. So don't be surprised if, after we spend some time together, you get random phone calls from me, with music blaring, just because the song reminded me of you. ;)
  • Movies

(yes, this is really me...it is my tribute to my favorite genre) I do love to watch movies, but rarely watch them multiple times, even if they are my faves. I'll watch any horror flik made, and particularly like Rosemary's Baby, The Ring, Pumpkinhead, Cabin Fever, The Jacket....I could go on and on. My faves include more epic, powerful dramas like The Power of One, Braveheart, Legends of the Fall, and Gangs of New York. I am also a sap for romantic movies. Shakespeare in Love really does it for me.
  • Television

I am addicted to any horror or supernatural themed shows. LONG LIVE MULDER AND SCULLY'S LOVE CHILD! My two favorite (non-supernatural) shows right now are Life on Mars and Boston Legal. But unfortunately I have given up on all my shows this year because of my busy schedule.
  • Books

I am a reader, so to list all of them here would be foolhardy(I love that word!) Anne Rice and Stephen King usually cast a spell on me. I will get so engrossed in a story, that my mood reflects what I am reading throughout the book, so it is a wonderful way to escape to unique and otherwise inaccessible places and lives. Here is a sampling from the past year: The 12 Steps for Adult Children, Women and their Fathers: The Sexual and Romantic Impact of the First Man in Your Life, Will I Ever be good enough?: Healing the Daughters of Narcissistic Mothers, Sisterhood Interrupted: From Radical Women to Grrls Gone Wild, Tuesdays with Morrie, Al-Anon's 12 steps and 12 traditions, Angela's Ashes, The Snow Garden, The Hard Truth about Soft Skills, My Mama's Waltz, Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office 101.
  • Heroes

Everyday people who give others a reason to live, to love, to hope... Martin Luther King, Jr., Susan B. Anthony, Nelson Mandela....

I'm back! Let the nonsense begin. Firstly when I am in America again if everyone could stop trying to say 'Prick' in a Scottish accent, that would be smashing.

GLEEP POWER!  Jane Lynch plays such a perfect character!  The entire cast is like a batch made in heaven - Glee has that new age tv drama feel that the L Word used to have, but in its own musical/ high school style.  It's quickly becoming addicting - my new 'must-see' show

I don't think it does - but ya know, I'm trying to be brave.  I think a big difference with Farrah and Michael is that she had a lot of social network support while she was alive and fighting cancer, and Michael is now getting his post-mortem.  Without her's she would've died much sooner, and if Michael had more he may have lived longer.
