Influences
Soul, R & B and Gospel music inspired me from a young age. Groups like: Troop, Levert, Guy, New Edition, Shai, SILK, The Get Fresh Crew, Kool & The Gang were some of my favorites as a kid. Solo artists such as Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross, BabyFace, Keith Sweat, R. Kelly, MUSIQ, Bilal, Dwele & others have had major influence on my own personal style. I would consider my "style" as being a blend of soul, gospel, funk/rock & r&b. . . .Im currently listening to Robin Thicke, Noel Gourdin, Amos Lee & Martin Sextons new album "Seeds" (a must get if you like good funk and acoustic rythym & blues. . . . Awesome voice too) Michael Franti's (Solo Album.."Everyone Deserves Music" Great all 'round album" and Cee Lo Greens solo album. "Soul Machine" super fresh, solid album in my opinion. My music collection consists of some pretty mello easy listening grooves. Soul, gospel & R&B is all I listen to. It's what moves & inspires me.

Alpine is an acoustic soul, r&b trio. Members are Chris "Alpine" Woodcox, Chris Kelly and Jon Kelly. These musical brothers are well known for their successful dueling piano shows here in Chico. A few months ago I shared with them my vision of putting a soul/R&B band together and they jumped right on board. The combined energy and creative input has resulted in an amazing trio "Alpine". Songs from John Legend, Stevie, Lionel Richie plus some originals such as New Day, Knock knock, Rough Child, Chico Sunshine and others. Jon Kelly provides the smooth piano tones plus clean backing vocals, while Chris laces every song with his smooth & funky guitar licks. He also lends his clean vocal stylings to the mix. Alpine (Chris Woodcox) steps out to deliver soulful and powerful lead vocals. Alpine has a rich background in soul, gospel and R&B. Singing since the age of 5. He has acquired the ability and the comfort to step out front as a lead vocalist and performer. Delivering a vocal style all his own. Tight harmonies and positive vibes is what Alpine "The Band" is set to deliver to the local music scene. After many years of talking about it the "Band" has been assembled. Our mission, fill the vacancy in the area of soul, gospel & R&B in Chico. Create a chill, grown folks atmosphere with some smoothed out sounds. Stay posted.
