Kelvin "D.K" Andrews was born on October 28th, 1985 in Dallas, Texas. D.K grew up the oldest of three siblings in a single parent household. His mom made sure that he stayed grounded and maintained his faith in God. Growing up in impoverished enviornments made D.K wish for a better life. D.K was never able to obtain the name brand clothes, or have the finer things in life but one thing he knew for certain was that he would work hard to achieve that level in his future. In high school, D.K was quiet and reserved compared to his peers. He found a comfort zone on the football field and became one of the captains of the team. After receiving a high school diploma D.K had aspirations of going to college and one day joining the NFL. It was only one week before he was scheduled to leave to MN for college that D.K was involved in a traumatic car accident where he suffered a broken neck. Months of rehab and hours of self reflection caused D.K to write down his feelings and the stories of his life. "It was like my life really flashed before me" D.K states. D.K went on to college with two of his friends from TX whom also enjoyed rapping. They would write and record songs in their dorm rooms with hopes of one day being successful. During the fall of 2007 D.K decided to bring a song to the local radio station, 99.7 KKCK, to obtain feedback. Surprisingly the song titled "So Fly" was played on the stations Saturday show during the hot spot. D.K would gain tremendous confidence in pursuing his music career but would not jump onto this momentum until 2009. It was then that D.K worked on and released his first Mixtape entitled "The Underdogs Hope". D.Ks first single, "Getting to the Guap", reached number one on KKCKs "Hot 9 @ 9" for five consecutive weeks. His next single "All About My Bread" also reached number one. D.K is currently working on his album which has yet to be titled. D.K is also finishing his semester at SMSU and achieving his degree in sociology. D.K credits his mother, family and close friends with keeping him focused and motivated to pursue his dreams musically. D.K has the potential to be one of the most famous and memorable rappers in the music industry and he is well on his way. D.K's music is about his life and is delivered in a way for listeners to relate. D.Ks music plays the role of therapy and expression for many of his fans. !CLOSE Text Div!
