Alrica's Bio
Even as a youngster, singer/songwriter Nicky Alrica was a globe trotter. Born in England, raised in Jamaica and now residing in Harlem, this talented songstress has managed to create her own niche in the challenging reggae music business.
Her vocal style is a unique blend of rich soul and reggae fused with jazz and hip hop. The term "Reggae & Blues", was created by acclaimed New York guitarist Yasto Tago to describe her style. Onstage Nicky Alrica is captivating and she has a rarely seen special interactive relationship with her fans; a truly breath-taking performer.
This rising star has performed all over New York, Jamaica and has her eyes set on taking over the world with her distinctive look, voice and style. She has touched the stage and worked alongside names like Bad Boys artiste Elephant Man, Red Rat, Junior Tucker, Marcia Davis and Derrick Barnett, to name a few.
Alrica finds inspiration in her loyal fans and deeply respects fellow musicians who persist through the struggles to achieve greatness in the industry. She cites the completion and release of her debut CD, This Time Round as her greatest achievement thus far.
This critically acclaimed debut CD was released in August 2006. The ten-track album of original tunes showcases Nicky Alrica's powerful vocals, her emotional lyrics and skills as a songwriter. Her lyrical genius is expressed through tracks such as Journey For Love, Between Us, Just One Time and Black Beauty, so it is no wonder that the songs still dominate airwaves all over the world.
She teamed with Barbudan reggae artist JR Dread to create the hot, hilarious single Leh Go on the Attaclaps Riddim produced by YaadNoyz Production. The video is currently being shot and is anticipated to be as high energy and entertaining as the song itself.
Currently she is writing new material in preparation for her second solo release. She is also working on a duet album with JR Dread.
Nicky Alrica repeats the following to stay positive through trials:
"All things work together for a purpose far greater than our minds may allow us to comprehend."
