Fast Freight - press clippings
"Howard Micenmacher doesn't mind the label "alternative country." The leader of Al's Fast Freight (named for his father's trucking business) sees the moniker as a dead giveaway that any band or artist has the music more in mind than the image -- an alternative to the cookie-cutter slickness of big-time country radio. Around since the early 1990s, Al's Fast Freight is ragged and proud. It mixes its country with rock, folk, and blues, and takes the stage with unbridled energy. The band has released two indie-label CDs, Interstate 90 and Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, plus the self-released Murder, and has opened for national acts as diverse as the Jerry Garcia Band, Tracy Byrd, the Outlaws, Wayne Hancock, and David Allan Coe."
Scene Magazine, Steve Byrne
"If Al's Fast Freight lived in your town, you'd go see them every time they played, the house would be packed, and the tip jar stuffed...Those twangy truck boys sure can write some great stuff".
Dirty Linen
"These Ohio musicians play working man's rock with country harmonies, and lyrics that tell of lost love, desperation and saloons of gloom. The music is rock based, but the country is there. Guitarist Howard Micenmacher has one of those distinctive voices that sticks in your head for days. Recommended"
The Music Scene by Bob Cianci, Narrowsburg, NY

Sound Affects Magazine, Sweden
"...a concert that features some of the best acts in the local music scene, such as Al's Fast Freight, which mutates pop and country to create frolicking folk-rock. On its just-released album, "Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea," the band cranks out nine melodic cryin'-in-your beer rockers that are as good-time sounding as they are literate."
The Plain Dealer/John Petkovic
"But if the songs are viewed collectively, it seems as if Al's Fast Freight is destined to follow in the footsteps of Merle Haggard or Waylon Jennings and turn out fearless songwriting that explores America's Rougher side, regardless of current radio trends."
Culver Maitland/Cleveland Country Magazine
"The disc has a loose, relaxed feel that is easy to like and it is a worthy follow-up to the well-received Interstate 90 album. Debts to Springsteen and Dylan abound here, and the band has certainly worked hard to develop its own distinctive sound. Their special blend of Americana hits the mark on the quality album that fans will love."

In a nutshell, the reunion is a chance for anybody interested Americana music, especially Cleveland based Americana music, to get together and share common interests and experiences. Too many times, artists are too busy or distracted to stop and take advantage of the small but energetic network of like minded musicians in the city.
The family reunion has its roots in the original roots jam night that Clint Holley created over three years ago at a small eatery called the Town Fryer. Musicians from all over the city joined together and spent some really fines times together. After over a hundred shows and a decision to complete his education, Clint stopped the popular jam night and the Americana scene fragmented once again.
The family reunion is an effort once again to bring people together for the cause of music! Come to Prosperity Social Club (1109 Starkweather) on August 28th, 2008 for a very special event.
A mix and mingle happy hour with free appetizers from 7pm-9pm! (What musician doesn't like free food!) A very special performance of Bob Lanphier and the Bitter Disapointments starting @ 9pm. Bob will have a very limited number of copies of his brand new record availible for 10 dollars!
Musicians, bring your card and/or some music. Meet new people! See your old pals! Happy Hour Beer Specials until 9pm!
