Founded in 1991 by bassist Mark Ellsworth,and drummer Matt Scott,with the later addition of Kevin Menssen on guitar,ALTERED EXISTENCE was born.Early 1993 brought the departure of Kevin( to a more grind orriented path in WACO JESUS) Replaced by Joey McCoy (ex-COMA) A.E. continued on. Countless auditions for a vocalist proved futile,so Mark moved into the vocalist position.The highight of this line-up came in1994,when A.E. along with INFECT,and HOT STOVE opened for BROKEN HOPE at the legendary Madison Theatre in Peoria,Il.Matt left shortly after,due to personal reasons,and was replaced by Brett Fugate (COMA,MOLOTOV,TERATA,ANGELKILL,CHURCH of MISERY,etc. )1995 saw the debut release of the 9 song demo "...To Darkend Depths of Imagination" Brett then left the band in early 96 to persue his musical vision,that is currently known as IDIOM.Joey was let go due to his feeling the band should go in a more commercial direction.Enter Bobby Bachman on drums,and Butch Branson(MOLOTOV) on guitar.The highlight of this line-up was Halloween1997 at Jumers hotel Normal,Il with NILE,MACABRE,and IDIOM.Drug and alcohol problems took thier toll,and A.E.was laid to rest in 98,shortly after a final show with TAXI WAR DANCE,and FREAKSHOW.Over the next couple years,Mark reformed himself,just in time to be diagnosed with cancer,which he fought for the next few years(Life threatening,but you know what they say "EVIL NEVER DIES")In 2005,Mark is contacted by a drummer (Devon),who has been working with an old friend of Mark's,Sgt. Mike. Now,with these two having great talent,and no material,and Mark having tons of material,and no band,ALTERED EXISTENCE was reborn.After pretty much every setback imaginable (health issues,ect)the 5 song EP "Created to Suffer" was released,March 3rd 2007.Devon was let go in April,and was replaced by Chris Rodgers(FROM UNDER),who is a Nu-metal drummer,but is adapting . 2008 started off great,with many shows scheduled for the year.ALTERED had the oppertunity to share the stage,as local support,for national tours including ANAL BLAST,EMBRIONIC DEVOURMENT,and DISMAL LAPSE.Time began to be an issue for SGT.MIKE between practice,shows,work,school,and life in general,he left the band after a final show on JULY 26th with WACO JESUS,and LIVIDITY. August brought the addition of STEVE SHUE on guitar.A local musician,who had mainly always played cover songs. Steve's guitar style is sure to bring a new dimension to the ALTERED EXISTENCE sound.
