Sounds Like
Imagine if Muddy Waters would have remade songs by the Rolling Stones instead of the
other way around.
MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota – Cold Wind Records is proud to announce the signing of Altered Five. The Milwaukee-based blues/rock band will release its debut album, Bluesified, in March 2008, and the CD will be distributed nationwide by Allegro Corporation.
Formed in 2002, the band has built a solid reputation with its innovative brand of rockin' rhythm and blues. According to prominent blues journalist Dave Rubin, "Altered Five re-imagines rock hits with the hip sensibility of jazz, the energy of the toughest rock 'n' roll and the soul of the blues. Singer Jeff Taylor transforms every song into a funky R&B workout while guitarist Jeff Schroedl comps and solos with consummate taste, tone and technique."
Cold Wind president Tim Bradach said of the deal, "The group has an uncanny ability to transform songs into their own distinctive sound, and the singing and playing is tremendous. I'm absolutely thrilled to be able to bring them to our label."
Bluesified captures the full flavor of the band's powerhouse live performances. Recorded in Madison, Wisconsin, the album's ten songs have an instant familiarity yet the arrangements ooze with originality. The rhythm section, featuring Scott Schroedl (drums) and Mark Solveson (bass), is dripping with gutsy grooves over which Jeff Schroedl and keyboardist Raymond Tevich blend their stinging riffs and solos. Taylor's booming baritone delivery rounds out the group's sound.
