The "Alte Schmiede" is a 112 year old building that used to be the village's blacksmith shop. For the last 50 years it has served as the home for the Grothkopp family.
Since 2006, though "Die Alte Schmiede" has become a place to house handmade music. Over the last year we have had the honour of several wonderful artists play our little stage:
Rachel Loshak, Eric Taylor, Eugene Ruffolo, Deb Pasternak, Christina Lux, Spencer Bohren, Vicki Genfan, Jeff Talmadge, Adrianne, Shannon Lyon and Edo Donker & Friends, Matt Vrba
have played memorable gigs her in front of a small but dedicated crowd.
"Die Alte Schmiede" lies in midst of Walksfelde, a 117 soul village 7 mi west of the old town of Mölln, about 22 mi south of the even older city of Luebeck and about 30 mi from downtown Hamburg. We are out in the country here. Quiet and peaceful.
The building features "The music room" that seats about 30 and holds up to 50 people, a tiny but great sounding Dynacord PA (not for volume - just for presence)with HK Speakers and a variety of fine microphones to choose from.
Food and drinks are supplied. Artists are being payed by the audience's generous donations.
Housing is offered as well: The Artist is invited to stay in the attached apartment. Small but cozy, cabin like, with a beautiful view. Contact through:
