About me: Thanks for visiting. I'm Al the Drummer, musician/songwriter/recording engineer/co-producer for hire. Currently I am in projects with Tim Jones, Root Soup, Juana Camelrie and several other semi-famous Nashville songwriters including Carole Edwards and Karen Layne...that is if she can still put up with me. Carole is an awesome singer. She sings like an Angel and I appreciate all the hard work she does in all categories. Hats off to Karen Layne too. They are all my buds.
I started out playing classical violin but gave it up for an illustrious basketball career. Currently I am known for playing the drum kit (acoustic and electronic), congas, bongos and anything else that shakes, rattles or rolls. I also dabble with guitar, mandolin, banjo, keyboards, bass, harmonica, kazoo, spoons or whatever floats my boat at the time. The highlights of my music career so far have been: 1. Winning the high school talent show. 2. Playing on the stage of the Mother Church of all music, the Ryman Auditorium. 3. Taking out Minnie Pearl's grocery bags to her car when I was 16 years old working at the grocery store.
I have just finished putting together a 24 track recording studio for my own indie label "Sow's Ear Productions". Sow's Ear specializes in on-location recording for bands that need demos. Currently I am compiling my own CD with special guest musicians. Look for it soon in a Walmart near you.
