The desperate, mournful cry of "Turn The Page". The muscular, jaunty strut of "Horizontal Bop". The haunting, desolate lament of "Main Street". For over two decades, the unmistakable saxophone solos of Alto Reed have been an integral, memorable part of the multi million-selling hits by Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band.
And now, the veteran Reed man, already being hailed by critics as "the 21st century saxophone player", has spread his musical wings into the "smooth jazz" and "urban" domain with the release with his first all-instrumental album of tenor and alto sax solos, "Cool Breeze".
Enthuses Tom Sleeker, program director for Detroit's "Smooth Jazz" WVMV-FM, after hearing the LPs title track and first single, "I knew ("Cool Breeze") was a perfect tune for us, great melodic hooks and improvisations. The whole album is excellent". And the nationally respected Gavin Report wasted no time in hailing the "Cool Breeze" single as a "Record to Watch" upon it's debut.
During his many years with Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, Alto Reed gained a deserved reputation in concert as a flamboyant, dare devil showman of rock 'n' roll. "I've done some crazy things in my career," Alto admits. "I've done sax solos from a hot-air balloon, dangling over the edge of the basket. I started climbing PA stacks way, way back. The higher you could pile them, the better it was. I even came up with a Peter Pan harness from Hollywood that riggers strapped me into with piano wires that the audience couldn't see, I would scale the towering stack of PA speakers and then dive off and go flying over their heads. People would go nuts with me doing that, and I had a ball doing it. The performance element has always been what I really love, giving the people what they want...and more!"

Most recently, Alto's broad musical talents have been tapped by the well-known actor Jeff Daniels for creating the soundtrack for his new movie based on a hugely successful play he had written entitled "Escanaba In da' Moonlight".

Thank you again Alto for the great show you guys did at Mustang Alley 2009 Woodward Dream Cruise. I now have the only 1970 Mustang signed by the great Alto Reed. That was very kind of you to take the time after the concert to sign the glove box in the dark.
