Altspeak are an American band from Seattle, formed in 2008 by Iggy Faus. The line-up includes Seattle Indie veterans Matt Brown (of Trespassers William), William Hallauer (of The Turn-ons), Andrew Gaskin (of The Little Penguins) and Coulter Leslie (of Coulter)
The band delivers a European influenced combination of Indie Rock, Shoegaze and Classic Songwriting and has been compared to acts like The Fratellis, The Hives, The Strokes, late Stereophonics and early Oasis & Coldplay.
It all started when Iggy, Matt & Will recorded a series of demos known as "A Serious Conversation" as a fun homemade project that later evovled into the current live line-up and the band's first studio album "It's Up To You".
Produced by Erik Blood (The Moondoggies, The Turn-ons, The Lights), "It's Up To You" is a collection of 13 distinct, melodic and carefully crafted guitar driven songs distinguished by their orchestral flourishes, swooping guitar lines and shades of Shoegaze.
The band released the full album on the Internet as a free legal download in July 2008. Since then "It's Up To You" has been downloaded by over 15,000 internet users worldwide.
