   About Alun Vaughan

Alun%20Vaughan
Quantcast

Hmm, I'm sure I should write something equal parts witty and deeply meaningful here but at the moment can't think of either so...
I'm a bass player from Wales UK, and musically I lead three lives -

Solo bassist - the main focus of this site
Member of Panic Room - the new project by former members of acclaimed Welsh band Karnataka
Jazz musician - Over the last few years I have been lucky enough to play alongside some iof the top UK jazz musicians as well as backing visiting artists. A list of the people I've worked with can be found here.
Many of these opportunites have come through pianist Dave Cottle and the incredible Swansea Jazzland club (www.swanseajazzland.co.uk)

For occasional newletters and exclusive material, please sign up for the mailing list at www.alunvaughan.com/contact.shtml

I've also got a couple of pages for other "solo projects" I'm working on that didn't really fit stylistically with the music here...
Prog silliness
Industrial noise

Hi Alun,
That's a definite then but drop it a tone and a half as I'd need very tight underwear to sing it at the original pitch.

Hi Alun.

Hope you'll forgive me for doing a bit of shameless merchandising ...

The new CD is out. Definitely not your father's organ trio! CD Baby's got it - samples, links & downloads on my Myspace page.

Hey Al hows it hanging mwsh? Still busy then hun. I have called it a day with the band, gutted really but that's the way it goes. Usual thing. So, am working on something else and then will start all over again with a load of new musicians! Oh joy. Haha! Remember the days when all we did was turn up at a booking, everything done for us. Just change; perform and then drive on home!! C u soon xx

Thanks for adding us. Love your bass playing. We've just recorded a demo to get some gigs in the South West. Never know, one day we might be gigging over your side of the bridge!

Apr 27 2008 11:05 AM

haha, no worries

I had to leave just before jim was about to start his second set, the guitarists with me were getting bored :/

I'm doing my best to get to the mumbles festival, even martin (webber) was handing out loads of flyers to students but still no one seems to want to travel the short distance to swansea :S

Hi back Alun,
That was some tour de force you played on Friday: Hendrix, Nirvana, the Beatles and Lord knows what else -something for everyone. How on Earth do you do you play bass lines, chords and the melody with a single bass guitar?
Stunning,
Hope to see you at the Ron Trueman Border night, if you're there.
Good health,
Dale

Hey Alun,

I checked out the YouTube short--very lyrical, intense soloing that sounds more like music than a bass solo (meaning= damned good) !!!
