Claude Debussy, Arvo Pärt, sir John Tavener, Morton Feldman, Erik Satie, Olivier Messiaen, Anton von Webern, Almeida Prado, Gregorian Chant, other liturgical chants, all modal music
My name is Alfredo
Votta [Jr]. I’m a composer. I was born in Brazil, in the town of Botucatu,
state of São Paulo, in 1980. I live in Jundiaí, in the same state. The piano
is my instrument, for which I write most of my compositions.
My main influences
are minimalism and post-minimalism, sacred music (including Gregorian Chant),
the music of Claude Debussy, Morton Feldman, Anton von Webern and others. I aim in
my works to attain beauty and spirituality in various manners, using familiar
and traditional musical idioms as well as more “difficult” ones.
Meditation
5 is the last piece of the Meditations, written in 1999. I don’t think much
can be added to the explanation already provided by the title itself. I feel
this is one the pieces in which I have best spoken myself into music.
A
Meditação nº5 é a última peça das Meditações, escritas em 1999. Não
creio que se possa acrescentar muito ao que o título já explica. Sinto que é
uma das peças em que melhor consegui falar, musicalmente, o que existe
interiormente.

Violet
Sea I and II
Violet
Sea has three movements. The first two were written in 2000. The third, omitted
here, in 2002. Only the white keys are used. The title comes from a dream I once
had in which I saw a violet sea.

terceiro, omitido aqui, em 2002. Somente são usadas as teclas brancas. O título
vem de um sonho que tive uma vez, no qual vi um mar violeta.
