Always Morning is an energetic Alternative Rock band who, as Zac Brown so kindly praises, is “the only college band we’ve played with that doesn’t suck”. Hailing from Blacksburg, VA, all members of the group are Virginia Tech Hokies with the same burning passion to create inspirational music and an extraordinary live experience. The name itself, Always Morning, is a perfect description of the band’s outlook on their music and life – the sun is always rising on a new day with life to be lived and lessons to be learned.
Always Morning is hungry to spread their music and give the world something they love and deserve. Enthusiasm abounds for playing more and more shows, building new relationships, and ultimately touching peoples’ lives. After releasing the Whistle Tips EP summer of 2008, the guys hope to continue to refine their sound and show the world what they’ve got with a live atmosphere more reminiscent of a friend’s party than your everyday concert.
After forming in the Spring of 2007, the band has forged a bond of brotherhood blemished only by a one-time change at drums. The movement began with the release of a solo EP by an experienced singer/songwriter in Chris Cooke (acoustic, vocals) that quickly drew the attention and limitless talent of Hunter Pease (electric, vocals). It took no time for Chris and Hunter to recognize their unparalleled musical connection and common aspiration to infuse a positive outlook through their art. Mutual friendships blessed the group with their next addition: Will Jernigan (bass, vocals). From his first session, Will unveiled a brilliant anchor to an evolving sound and an indispensable attitude of professionalism. In the summer of 2007, the original group spent an unforgettable summer in a band house in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, taking time to explore their direction and push themselves musically. Finally, the Fall of 2008 brought the band’s first revision with the addition of its newest member, Winston “Church” Williams (drums, percussion). Winton’s recent presence, like Pau Gasol, has taken a special squad and elevated them to an unstoppable level. With Winston’s high music IQ and tasteful approach, doors have been unlocked that will certainly lead to a memorable and boundless career.
The Always Morning flavor is bold and extremely unique, with hints of blues and rock, tastes of reggae and jazz, and a dash of jam band – all served over the perfect helping of acoustic. Crediting its sound to no particular genre, group, or individual, a few of the band’s many musical influences include artists such as the Dave Matthews Band, Of A Revolution (O.A.R.), Umphrey’s McGee, The John Butler Trio, John Mayer, Dispatch, and other versatile bands known for their live show. Collectively, the group produces an energetic, musically intelligent, crowd pleasing sound that may only be appreciated to its fullest after experiencing the diversity of each individual song and performance.
