Alyson Greenfield recently released her first full-length album, "Tuscaloosa" which was engineered by Densie Barbarita (David Byrne, Mary J. Blige, The Roots), and features Jason Mercer (Ani DiFranco, Ron Sexsmith) on bass and Geoff Hug (NYC Smoke) on drums.
Alyson moved to New York City in January 2009 and has played notable singer/songwriter venues such as The Bitter End, Rockwood Music Hall, and Pete's Candy Store, as well as the CMJ Music Marathon. Alyson has also performed at NYC venues such as the Music Hall of Williamsburg and Le Poisson Rouge with the electronic band Future Rock (Matisyahu, The Disco Biscuits) as they cover her song "Understand the Sky."
Alyson is quickly garnering recognition from local, national, and international music publications, radio podcasts, and TV networks. She was officially welcomed to New York City by The Deli magazine (NYC), and was given rave reviews in Beyond Race Magazine (NYC), La Zine (England), and Big Rock Finish (Canada). She was named a Semi-Finalist in the 2007 PASTE Magazine Rock N Reel At Sea Contest, her "Six Songs" EP was awarded 3rd Place at the Women's Radio Review Awards 2007 in the Classical/Contemporary Category, and her music has been heard on national and international radio podcasts ranging from Rubyfruit Radio (listed in the SPIN Magazine Essential Mix) to Babes in Boyland, based in Montpellier, France. After winning in the Solo Category of FOX's My Network TV Band Call Out, Alyson licensed four of the six songs on her "Six Songs" EP to the network. Her songs have been heard in the television programs "Wicked, Wicked Games" (starring Tatum O' Neal) and "Saints and Sinners."
In the summer of 2007 Alyson traveled to Mali, West Africa where she studied guitar with Sinaly Papus Diabate and sat in on keyboards with the Super Djata Band at Bamako's music hotspot, Foyer De L'air. Alyson has played nationally at music festivals such as Estrojam in Chicago, EarthFusion in Minneapolis, and Comfest and Ladyfest, both in Columbus, OH.
Alyson received her Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing in May 2008. Her writing can be found in such magazines as Sinister Compendium, Mêlée, Blaze Vox, and 27 Rue de Fleurs. Additional credits include co-writing the screenplay for "Sitting on Fire," a short film based on Alyson's original short story, which was selected to show in several national film festivals-- among them the 2004 California Independent Film Festival and the 2003 Philadelphia Documentary and Fiction Festival, where it won Special Prize for Best Short Film. She has most recently been seen on screen acting in Splitpillow's The Alpha Project, Thomas Lisa's "White Hot Dork Funk" music video, and ZWAN's music video, "Lyric."
A former Board Member of the Chicago National Organization for Women, high school teacher, and Tolerance Educator, Alyson seeks to promote ideas of understanding through her music. As well as playing at theaters, clubs, and museums she prizes her performances at tolerant-conscious festivals and events such as Estrojam, Ladyfest, Comfest, and Earth Fusion.

OCTOBER 2009 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Daughter of Pulitzer Prize Winner, Singer-Songwriter Leah-Carla Gordone Self-Publishes Highly Personal Memoir Surrounding Her Manic-Depressive Illness
“From hazardous, fragmented [mis]adventures, Leah-Carla Gordone pulls a shining crystal ball of understanding—reconciling the intensely creative and bipolar parts of herself. Her memoir never loses a kind of mystical wonder at life, humor, or an undeniable self-possession, even when it seems that all else is falling away…A triumphant story of feminine resilience and beauty.” – Lo Galluccio, Author of "Hot Rain" and "Sarasota VII"
“THE MOTORGIRL MEMOIRS is magical! An eloquently written, honest, and compelling masterpiece with rich and colorful insights into Manic-Depression that will bring you to tears. Leah-Carla Gordone takes you on a funky, urban adventure with her emotionally riveting character, Em-Gee, who has the soul of a rock star, a super hero, and a pixie all rolled into one brave and awesome Bipolar babe!” – Taj Bell, Author and Illustrator of children’s book "The Little Night Fairy"
