Alyssa has Trisomy 18
(also known as Edward's Syndrome)
A condition that leaves her with no muscle tone, unable to sit up or even support herself, and is forced to feed through a tube.
She suffers from major organ malformations, severe global developmental delay, is medically fragile and her care is palliative.
Most babies born with this syndrome die within hours because it is not compatible with life. Less than 5 % make it to 1 year, and the very few that live longer are considered miracles.
Alyssa is truely a miracle , for she is now 6 years old.
