The band was formed in 2004 and consists of 4 friends who have been playing music together for years, although it was in 2004 songs were written under the name AMALTHEA and the early version of the sound you hear today was born. It started out with songs who were very much emo and chaotic but later AMALTHEA started incorporating more post-rock elements. They made various recordings by themselves in their own studio. In 2005 Ape Must Not Kill Ape Records released a 4 song 7inch and after that a split with Only For The Sake Of Aching was released by the same label, that was early 2006. At this point wthe band had been playing some shows in Sweden, England, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In 2006 they had decided that it was time for a debut album and started writing songs and soon thereafter went into the studio to record them. Since they always had the ideology that AMALTHEA would play music they love to play and not care so much about how much attention it genereated, as long as they enjoyed playing it, the result was a more evolved sound experimenting with more genres than before. It had a wider spectrum than before. They named the album: "Decision should be a desert, bright and clear".
In june 2007 the album was released by the label Ape Must Not Kill Ape Records in the shape of a digipak cd.
Later they recorded 3 songs which took the sound even further and this time tried some more new things and those three songs is now a part of a split with the french band HIRO which has been released as a CD (Impure Muzik & SM Musik) and a 12inch (Impure Muzik & Osk Records).
Some songs which were "B-sides" from the album also made it to a compilation on the newly started label Moment of Collapse which is a six way split with the bands: Amalthea (swe), Hiro (fra)

Dodewaard (nl).
Right now the focus is on making a second album, taking another step forward musically, this time it's going to be something sounding different from before, if you like it or not....you'll have to wait and decide until it's ready. AMALTHEA is going to another place with this next album...if you like this place or not will have to wait until 2010...
