I've changed a lot over the last few years. My main influences come from seeing my favorite musicians live, especially the great Jenny Lewis, who's new album, Acid Tongue, has to be one of my favorite of all time. I also enjoy other bands such as Rilo Kiley, The Postal Service, The Elected, Eisley, Sarah Bareiellis, Alanis Morisette, Metric, Lisa Loeb and of course, my best friend, Ashley Rose.
I was born and raised in Dirty Jersey, and now go to school in the garden state as well; almost as if I couldn't get enough. Hopefully in the near future I'll do some traveling. I'm big on the writing nowadays, songs, poetry, and I am currently working on a screenplay that's being picked over by my screenwriting classes. I have my own music room in my house that derives from an empty pantry because my wonderful roommates and I are too poor to fill it. It stores my vacuum cleaner, the hot water heater, empty shelves and my keyboard and guitar. You can usually find me in there sitting on a stool stolen from my kitchen, and my feet freezing cause-- you guessed it-- there's no heat in there.
I'm absolutely in love with television. And I absolutely hate reality TV. I will be forever infatuated with FRIENDS, and I watch Grey's Anatomy, The Office, Saturday Night Live and my new favorite, True Blood. I love Chelsea Handler, Kathy Griffin and Ellen. Yep.
I'm also inspired by my first love which is of course, theater. Some of the great shows I hold monumental experience with are Wicked, and the Last five years. The actors that tickle my fancy are Idina Menzel, Norbert Leo Butz, Sherie Rene Scott, and Sutton Foster.
I read a whole lot now, mostly because I'm getting my undergrad degree in English literature, and creative writing which is ridiculously awesome. Some authors I dig are Austen, Salinger, Hesse, Michelle Cliff, Willy Shakespeare, and I read way too much literary criticism. I dig the canon, what can I say?
Some more random Information on Amanda Carl: I'm a vegetarian. I have a weakness for Zac Efron that my boyfriend persistently takes position against. I enjoy watching bootlegged broadway musical clips off of youtube of the original casts. I love New York City and going to Jazz clubs. I hate clubbing. I have 5 female roommates. Our neighbors hate us. I work for Montclair State University as an Admissions Ambassador. I love collaborating on writing songs. I love duets and harmonies. My weakness for Zac Efron branches into an intrigue of the Jonas Brothers and their unusually tight pant legs. I have an alter ego named Burnadette. She comes out when I'm either drinking or pleasantly outraged. I love my classes at school. I think Joe Biden is a fox. My sister is obsessed with the old 90210. I love cheeeeeeeese!
