Amanda Diva isn’t crazy. She’s just not like anybody else you’ve ever met. And her work follows suit.
Straight to the point lyrics with a comedic edge, sang in her raspy from the gut voice over big production combining live instrumentation with an alternative kick, she defies genre, and expectations of what a popular female artist is “supposed” to be. She’s spunky, she’s sharp, and she’s got jokes for days. Her live show is like a venerable stand up routine coupled with soul moving music that is undeniably innovative, spontaneous, just plain awesome.
But music wasn’t always the goal. Starting off as a young actress on Nickelodeon sitcom, “My Brother and Me” Diva is no stranger to the madness that is showbiz. Moving to New York in 1999 she was exposed to the hip-hop culture in a completely new way than that of her hometown Orlando, FL and she was hooked. Soon she was writing and performing on the spoken word poetry scene before being chosen to appear on Russell Simmon’s Def Poetry Jam (’02 & ’05). While performing at a political fundraiser she was discovered by a Program Director at Sirius Satellite Radio and was quickly hired as a radio personality right out of college where she continued to thrive from ’03-’08 with her morning show “Breakfast at Diva’s.” During that time she also obtained a Master’s in African American studies from the prestigious Columbia University and served as the face of hip-hop on MTV2 interviewing close to every relevant hip-hop/R&B artist of the last 10 yrs including Jay-Z, Nas, Mariah Carey, Pharell, and even acting heavyweights like Tom Cruise and Jamie Fox. Her love affair with the small screen continues to grow as currently she serves as comedy commentator and music expert on VH1, writer & creator of “Diva Speak TV” a weekly humor based news/sketch comedy show featured on the extremely popular ThisIs50.com & “Diva Diva Ya’ll” an interview based lifestyle show rooted in showing audiences another side of their favorite artists/personalities and exposing them to some and cultures that they should know featured on heavily trafficked Karmalooptv.com.
All of that experience, bull sh**, etcetera has come to influence Amanda Diva the recording artist and is at the crux of what sets her a part from everyone else. Her latest release, a FreEp titled, “Spandex, Rhymes & Soul” epitomizes that growth combining hip-hop, soul, alternative, and a touch of electronica with sustained melodies and poignant lyrics on life and love that speak universally to human nature.
Originally, some questioned Miss Diva, writing her off as another personality looking to use her connections to parle.. a stream of income from the music realm but as Deev would say, “No Dice.” Understand. A. Diva is the real deal and her peers have come to embrace her as such. Recently featured on Q-tip’s “ManWoman Boogie” on his album “The Renaissance,” she also replaced Natalie Stewart in the Grammy award winning R&B group, Floetry in ‘07, and has worked with notable artisans Questlove, James Poyser, Green Lantern, Estelle, The Cool Kids, and more.
There is an abundance of artists on the planet, writing, singing, producing, etc. But there are only elite few that stand out. She’s known to rock a lot of neon colors but that is not what sets Amanda Diva a part from the crowd. Her uniqueness lies in her uncanny ability to always be herself but ardently feel the emotions of others and articulate them vividly and honestly through music that excites, ignites, and tears the roof off of any venue she sets foot in.

Could it be just MY imagination that causes this theL-U-V hallucinations that fragrant MY atmosphere, MY destination, MY center? Could it be the power oOf suggestion or Could this be just the reason that their are NO real answers toO theL-U-V questions? Could it be the air that I breath, with YOU filtering in theL-U-V memories that intentionally collapses MY lungs dropping ME toO MY knees gasping for MORE oOf only YOU? Could it be that I’m just alone in solitary confinement waiting for MY appeal, or until MY sentence iz done, or until theL-U-V GOV. pardons ME? Could it be that the tears swell MY eyeZ cause it iz just now that I have realized that theL-U-V iz gone or iz it that even with theL-U-V GOV. and the pardon just wasn’t enough toO forgive the past and keep that stone from being cast? Could it be that theL-U-V boat was only afloat for a short period oOf time then long foreseen, dramatic, tragic, weather came toO claim, recover the total amount oOf what was over due? And since WE never had enough for OUR theL-U-V debt We were finally seized, traded, auction blocked and toO the highest bidder which was the Lord oOf the sea toO WHOM WE were sold. Poseidon toOk possession and set US side by side right next toO his betheL-U-Ved Atlantis, and said toO US if WE had it all toO doO over again would WE doO it all the very same???? If not what would change? WE both loOked at each other, and said with salt water tears in both oOf OUR brown eyeZ. That if given a second chance that side bye side all over again their would be NO hesitation or ?s about US Gladly Being Poseidon’s Possession...;-)~

For all that have been good this year I have a special surprise! The Attic will release a great collection of demo and some signed but new performers from and around Croatia. This collection is going to be the biggest yet downloadable collection of underground, demo and a bit of mainstream Hip Hop music the Balkan has EVER SEEN! I ask for signed performers not to be mad cause I will not receive 1 lipa (Croatian counter value of 0.136986 euro cent) from this and am doing this for the music that I love! There will be all that I have right now so don't be mad if you aren't in the list, I didn't get everything from everybody, yet! I worked very hard for this to come out, so be fair with the comments, I do this alone!
Some of this music is good (my judgment) and some isn't but all deserve a chance, and we already know that the best will win the crowd! RAP, SOUL, R&B, and HIP HOP RELATED music in general will be in the mix, nothing else, for now! I will upload the torrent after 25.12. cause I have a Christmas too, and have much to do (I'm a Santa on the town square...) All the information will be passed to all Attic friends!
