Texas born and raised singer and songwriter Amanda Cevallos is about to explode on the Texas music scene with her witty song writing and new country music album. Amanda got her start in the entertainment business modeling for Neil Hamil in Houston TX at age 9. By the age of 14 she was with Page Parks Modeling Agency and at the young age of 17, while still in high school, she was the host of her very own TV show. The show was a Latin based music video show called Mega Mix. This is where Amanda was introduced to the music business. The rest is history! Following Mega Mix, Amanda was represented by the Houston Acting Talent agency Pastorini and Bosby. After a 3 year stint in the acting world she decided to go back to college.
Hard to believe that Amanda did not own her first guitar until 2001 when she picked one up at a thrift store in Houston. Until that time, she had written a song or two but had never actually played the guitar. Early on, Amanda only “messed around” with her new instrument and it was not until after moving to Montana to attend college and pursue a degree in Dance for Choreography and Performance that Amanda truly became inspired to start writing, playing and singing her own songs. It did not take long for the people around her to realize that Amanda had a special talent and was on her way to a career in singing and songwriting. Amanda's first written and composed song, was called “How Could You Let Me Say Goodbye,” a love song that was on her very first album, Rainy Day. An album recorded out of a friend’s basement in Missoula, MT. By the time Amanda graduated from The University of Montana, she had developed into a seasoned artist and a quadruple threat as a Writer, Dancer, Actor and Singer.
Amanda started performing live in late 2006 and has been on a tear since. She came to Texas for a live tour in the summer of 2008. While on the tour, Amanda performed 23 times during the two-month journey. She opened up several times for Paula Nelson, the daughter of Willie Nelson, and began to establish her own following of fans in the Lone Star State. Upon returning to Montana after the tour was over, Amanda decided that it was time to move to Austin, the live music capital of the world, to continue to develop her career. Before departing Montana however, Amanda got busy and recorded and released her second album that further demonstrated her unique style of country folk music that tells the story of the life of this passionate singer and songwriter.
Now residing in the hill country of Austin, TX, Amanda is currently writing and recording her 3rd album partnering up with well known producer and pedal steel guitar player Tommy Spurlock. The two of them met five years ago at Willie’s 4th of July Picnic in Fort Worth, Texas, and Amanda knew immediately that Tommy could have a positive impact on her music. “Working with Tommy is like being in singer boot camp”, says Amanda. Not only does he produce her music, but he is also her music director, vocal coach and guitar teacher. "He is literally teaching me how to sing! I had no idea I needed to breathe so much" They are currently recording brand spankin' new original songs written by Miss Amanda Jo. Stay tuned here for new songs, "Hey", "Read My Hips", "I'm Not Lovin' You Tonight" and "Which Way I Go."
Amanda and Tommy will be performing this summer as a duo all over the Texas hill country and surrounding areas. In the fall, you will be able to catch Amanda during her Texas tour in all major cities, college towns, Texas honkytonks and historical places all over the Lone Star State. Amanda will soon be launching Amandacevallos.com where you will be able to keep track of her live events, find all of her new merchandise(Sweet T-Shirts Coming Soon!!!), purchase her new album and stay up to date as to what is going on with Texas’ newest up and coming country star….Amanda Cevallos.
