Just me for now . . . but I have to give kudos to the skillful musicians who helped bring theses songs to life. When I write a song, it’s like I can hear it all in my head - the guitar, the drums, the keys, but I couldn’t have gotten it all out of my head and onto these tracks without your help! And your experience and expertise took the vision and made it even bigger! Thank you to Ken Mary & Sonic Phish Productions for all your hard work!
Influences
Influence - that’s a powerful thing - to have someone influence your music, even more powerful to have someone influence your life . . .
The most influencial person in my life is someone many people would say they know, and even more people would say they’ve heard of, but how many people really know him none of us really know . . . my best friend, who I consult about everything, is Jesus. He is definitely the biggest influence on what I write, what I sing, and how I live my life.
My deepest and strongest passion is to praise and worship the Lord . . . if it were up to me, that’s the box I would put myself in - singing in the church. ’cause for me, it’s a really comfortable box and I like it a lot :-). But, I keep getting all these songs in my head that I know are for the people, and some of them might never have even set foot in church.
So, I had a choice - to stay in my box, where I’m the most comfortable, or to take off the lid and trust that the one who inspires me to write songs that touch His heart and the hearts of people during a church service, is the same person who inspires me to touch the hearts of people outside of a church service.
Who says you can’t do both? I’ve been told you have to choose one or the other - to be a "Christian" artist or to be "Mainstream" artist. Like I said, if I had my choice, I’d only be singing in the church, and there’s no question that I’ll continue to do that for the rest of my life. But, I’m a Christian no matter what label anyone puts on me . . . so I figure I can be a Christian Mainstream Artist too.
I had an amazing revolutionary thought one day . . . wouldn’t it be something to have concerts that incorporate both forms of music? Opening up with songs that grab the hearts of the people, songs they’re familiar with on the radio, that they can personally identify with, and then taking them into worship with the Father where their hearts will truly be filled.
Sometimes religion keeps us out of church. You might have had a really rough experience with someone who didn’t understand the love of God. You might have been offended in a church. You might have felt out of place. You might have felt uncomfortable for whatever reason . . . but Jesus isn’t a building, He’s not a religion, and He’s not the one who offended you. He’s a person, and He’s the best friend you could ever have. He doesn’t care about what you look like or what you’ve done in the past, He just cares about you, about your heart, and there’s nothing He wants more in this life than to have a relationship with you. He’s someone I want to the world to know, but each person needs to personally make the decision to get to know Him.
So, my vision for live performances in the future is to start off with songs like the ones you’re hearing on this website, that bring us together through our personal experiences, and then, giving you the option to stick around, only if you want to, for hearing some songs that might be a little different than what you’re used to hearing. Songs that not only touch our hearts, but also the heart of the one who created us and sent His son to die for us. You may even decide to share in a personal relationship with Him too, but that will always remain completely your decision . . . no pressure, just a time of introducing you to Him through music.
We’re all people, we all have hearts, and we all connect to music. It’s a world wide phenomenon, the power of music that is. We all go through circumstances, we all experience heart ache, and within each of us, is the need for healing, renewed strength, a way out of seemingly hopeless situations in our life, and to know we’re not alone. There’s so much more to life than just going through the motions, and there’s so much joy and peace to be found that can remain constant, even when we’re going through a challenging time, but it takes laying your life down in order to really experience those things genuinely in your life.
K, well that’s all I have to say about that. :-)
Amanda Wolfe first hit the stage in 1998 singing contemporary Christian music. She always felt a stronger pulling to the rock and alternative groups she sang with, but grew as a vocalist singing with bands of different influences ranging from contemporary to rock, and even a little country. Singing country music was nothing new for this grand daughter of a once renown country artist Jimmy Starr. Her first glimpse into the world of performing artists really began as a young child when she tagged along with her grandfather and often joined him for a guest stage appearance during his gigs. Coming from a musical family of players, Amanda picked up her own instrument during school years and played the flute, but years later wishes it would have been a guitar. A compilation of experiences and being around the experienced has complimented her innate ability to hear melodies and instrumental parts in her head without using an instrument. From a very early age, Amanda has written songs and tucked them away for years to come. One of the most rewarding things for Amanda is when the songs in her head and words on paper are brought to life, like a coloring book with crayons.
