Includes "Sometimes A Man Takes A Drink" written by Amanda Martin & Larry Cordle!
"Adkins' 10th album, like some of his others, has a slightly schizophrenic quality, with bawdy country-rockers sharing space with sentimental songs of faith and family. As the album progresses, different sides of Adkins emerge — the Civil War buff singing about military dead, in a song with a ghostly coda from the West Point Cadet Glee Club; the recovering alcoholic acknowledging with great personal authority that, while sometimes a man takes a drink, "sometimes a drink takes the man."
Those performances suggest a more complex, more compelling persona than his most swaggering, most successful hit singles have ever allowed." – Brian Mansfield ~ USA TODAY
Born and raised in the Adirondack Mountains of New York, Amanda Martin spent her early years listening to her parents perform the best of Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings in the honky-tonks of the North Country. Amanda came to Nashville in 1999 to attend Belmont University’s Music Business Program from which she received her degree in 2003 in Music Business Management. During her second year at Belmont, she was awarded the prestigious “Best of Belmont” which afforded her the opportunity to perform with Vince Gill.
A gifted guitar player and songwriter, Amanda is inspired by Dwight Yoakum, Garth Brooks, Lucinda Williams, and Elvis Presley. Amanda’s voice has been described as “deeply emotional without being remotely fluffy” and “distinctive, both sweet and just a little bit naughty.” Her songwriting commands attention with profound lyrics that are both accessible and without pretension. Her emotion can be found in songs such as "Sometimes A Man Takes A Drink," which was recorded by Trace Adkins for his upcoming "X" album due out November 2008. Amanda has also co-written and recorded a duet with Lee Greenwood entitled, "Nothin' That I Wouldn't Do For You." Look for her in a town or city near you, as she has opened for such artists as Tanya Tucker, Jason Aldean, John Anderson, Jake Owen and many others.
