In 1982, after the massacres at Sabra and Shatilla refugee camps, a song was composed by South African musician, Faizel Boorany. It was called “Lament for Palestine”.
In 2006, after the simultaneous massacres in Qana and Gaza, a song was composed by South African musician, Jeremy Karodia. It was called “Burnt Humus”.
In 2009, after the massacres in Gaza, a song was composed by South African vocalist, Abu Zayd. It was called “Rise and Fall”.

In 2009, after the massacres in Gaza, a poem was written by South African human rights activist, Fatima Rahiman Boorany. It was called “From Joburg to Gaza”.

In 2009, four South African bands collaborated to record the album “Amandla Intifada” to express their support for the Palestinian people in their struggle against Israeli oppression and occupation. As people who came out of a struggle against apartheid, these musicians acknowledge the support shown by the Palestinian people for the liberation of South Africa from apartheid. It is time to show the same level of support for the Palestinian people.
This album is a project initiated by the Palestinian Solidarity Committee (PSC). It is for free download and distribution to help raise awareness about the plight of the Palestinian people.
