A.U.M or Amaran UntukMu was formed in mid-2006 by the three founding members: Borhan (guitar), Shahran (bass) and Junaidi (drums). With the same preference for sound and offbeat time signatures, these three members decided to come together and produce music currently identified by some as minimalist emotive fusion. A strong advocate of minimalism, A.U.M has consistently embedded this belief into their music. These musicians delve into their emotions to define their lyrical creativity and honest musicianship. As originality is no longer possible, A.U.M fuses various genres to come up with a piece of uniquely written music. These notions and beliefs that A.U.M members have held on are encapsulated in A.U.M’s current self-titled EP under their own label, A.U.M Records.
Ideology= And one of the striking features of the modern period is the institutionalization of deceiving and oppressing the public, so that we now have huge industries deceiving the mass—and they're very conscious about it, the public relations industry. Interestingly, this developed in the freest countries, and, when it was recognized that enough freedom had been won that people could no longer be controlled by force. So modes of deception and manipulation had to be developed in order to keep them under control. And by now these are huge industries. They not only dominate marketing of commodities, but they also control the political system.
As anyone who watches an election knows, it's marketing. It's the same techniques that are used to market toothpaste. And, of course, there are power systems in place to facilitate this. Throughout history it's been mostly the property holders or the educated classes who've tended to support power systems. And that's a large part of what education is—it's a form of indoctrination. You have to reconstruct a picture of the world in order to be conducive to the interests and concerns of the educated classes, and this involves a lot of self-deceit.

PLAINSUNSET will launch their 5th studio album, entitled “Collabor-8” on December 18 in conjunction with Esplanade’s Late Nite at Esplanade concert series.
Having made some good friends over their 13 years as a band, the concert will feature PLAINSUNSET playing live with friends such as Sheikh Haikel, Amanda Ling (ex-Electrico), DJ Darren Dubwise and the unpredictable Lard Brothers and even a choir hehe... They will also appear on PLAINSUNSET’s latest studio album released on the same day.
Expect a crazy rock party, as it normally is with any PLAINSUNSET show but this time with a slight twist on new songs meshed up with the different styles that each guest artist represents. However no PLAINSUNSET show is complete without the crowd favourite classics such “Find A Way” and “Girl on Queen Street”, so if you are a seasoned fan you definitely won’t be disappointed…
The new album, scheduled for release the same day will feature 8 tracks of collaborative efforts with PLAINSUNSET from various artists. Distribution, artwork, track listing and track info are still being finalized and information will be sent out as soon as they’re made available. Current collaborators include rap/hip hop icon Sheikh Haikel, dub masters Dubwise, ex-Electrico keyboardist Amanda Ling as well as a remix of “River Song” by The Lard Brothers.
Always known to be a band that’s all about the community and fervent supporters of music made in Singapore, the band hopes this release will inspire more efforts of unity and collaborations among local musicians, and as the band light-heartedly puts it, “Don’t hate… Collabor-8”.
