About me:
Amarillo Little Theatre is dedicated to the promotion and furtherance of live, nonprofit community theatre as an art form, stressing local and area participation in every facet of theatre production.
Established in 1927, ALT is one of the oldest continuously operating community theatres in the country. Managed and operated by a staff of theatre professionals, the theatre is a 501 (c) nonprofit corporation and is governed by a board of directors comprised of 25 community volunteers.
There is no better place to experience theatre in all its rich variety than at Amarillo Little Theatre. ALT’s intimate settings allow you to take in every detail, down to the most minute expression or gesture. The variety of work presented at ALT is incomparable.
ALT produces a diverse collection of theatre productions each season. The season includes five Mainstage productions, four Adventure Series productions, two to three Academy productions, and various other special events. Each year, ALT also presents a nationally known performer as an annual special event. Notable performers to appear at ALT special events include Ben Vereen, Tommy Tune, Michael Feinstein, Betty Buckly, Kristin Chenoweth, Jim Brickman and Johnny Rivers. These shows and programs serve over 40,000 area residents annually.
Theatre Brings Art to Life!
...and the artists of Amarillo Little Theatre make
live theatre unforgettable and fun!
Who I'd like to meet:
ALT's Academy Program offers comprehensive training in the disciplines of theatre, dance, and voice to children and adults in the area.
The dance academy offers instruction in tap, ballet, jazz, hip-hop and ballroom to students ranging in age from three to adult. Classes are taught in two "state of the art" dance studios housed within the ALT Mainstage facility. Over 300 students participate in the dance academy program each semester.
The theatre academy offers instruction in theatre and voice to over 120 students each semester ranging in age from five to adult. ALT theatre academy students also have the opportunity to participate in two to three academy productions each year. The theatre academy operates under the guidance of a full-time Education Director and is housed in ALT's Adventure Space.
For eighty years, volunteers have auditioned, performed, painted sets, created costumes, and sold memberships at ALT. Carpenters, painters, stage crews, box office workers, hosts, ushers, technicians, performers and costumers all play significant roles in “raising the curtain”. Actors and backstage workers are strictly volunteers, guided by ALT’s full-time staff of theatre professionals. Participation in the activities of Amarillo Little Theatre is open to anyone.
Hello I was enrolled in Theatre in High School at Palo Duro HS Mrs. Mashburn was my teacher my favorite Theatre play was The Wizard of Oz what we should have done is the Wizards Of Waverly Place I also love musical theatre and Theatre itself . keep doing good ALT
I just saw the new movie version of Doubt this weekend and I left the theater with a sense of awe at the performances I witnessed last year at ALT. I knew Melanie, Jeff, and Annika had given outstanding performances but I really didn't have anything with which to compare it -- now I do -- and I am amazed by them all over again. If you saw ALT's production, go watch the movie and compare "sisters" to "sisters" and I think you will agree Meryl and Melanie share more than just the same initials!
