The Gothic-Metal-Band AMATRIS was founded in 2001 by the singer Helge Barth. Bittersweet keyboard-melodies meet hard guitarriffs acompanied by female and male voices. The lyrics tell stories about lies, intrigues and violence of mankind, endtime, visions, death, desperation - but also about hope.
The debut album "Between Visions And Reality" was produced and distributed by the band himself in 2003. This was followed by diverse club- and festivalgigs, and they qualified on two newcomercontests for the final round. In case of support - and festivalgigs AMATRIS played with bands like MOONSPELL, HAGGARD, ELIS, MIDNATTSOL, KRYPTERIA, THE CRÜXSHADOWS, FUNHOUSE and SCHELMISH. In the year 2004 the band played the first international gig at the Rock La Mures-Festival in Romania.
The bandleader Holger Warschkow (bassguitar) and Helge Barth made the decision to play with guest-musicians and made a tour in the summer of 2005 until Bucarest with them. In the end of 2005 Holger and Helge decided to produce the second CD with Romanian guest-musicians in Romania. The Album "Before The Final Journey" was produced in the Neo Sonix-Studio/Timisoara and finished in the beginning of 2006. Many positiv national and international reviews followed the production.
After the production AMATRIS signed a contract with the renowned german label and distribution company TWILIGHT. After this Helge and Holger formed a new fixed german line up. They made a tour in the summer of 2006 through Germany, Slovakia and Romania. In 2007 the album "Imprisoned" was produced. There you will find also elements of Doom/Death-Metal.
In 2009 the band works for a new album.
Die Band AMATRIS wurde 2001 durch den Sänger Helge Barth gegründet und hat sich dem Gothic-Metal verschrieben. Bittersüße Keyboardmelodien treffen auf harte Gitarrenriffs und sowohl weiblichen, als auch männlichen Gesang. Häufig steuern die Songs in melancholische Zwischenparts, um schließlich in einem gewaltigen Opus zu explodieren. Die Texte erzählen von der stumpfsinnigen Menschheit, die sich in einem Sumpf aus Lügen, Intrigen und Gewalt zugrunde richtet, von endzeitlichen Visionen, Tod, Verzweiflung - aber auch von der Hoffnung.

Es folgten diverse Club - und Festivalkonzerte, wobei sich die Band auch bei zwei Newcomer - Wettbewerben jeweils für die Endrunde qualifizieren konnte. Im Rahmen von Support - und Festivalgigs standen AMATRIS bereits mit Acts wie MOONSPELL, HAGGARD, ELIS, MIDNATTSOL, KRYPTERIA, THE CRÜXSHADOWS, FUNHOUSE und SCHELMISCH auf der Bühne. Im Sommer 2004 gab die Band ihr erstes internationales Konzert auf dem Rock La Mures - Festival in Rumänien.
Im Laufe der Zeit gab es immer wieder Besetzungswechsel. Dies führte dazu, dass die Bandleader Holger Warschkow (Bass) und Helge Barth vorübergehend mit Gast-Musikern arbeiteten und mit diesen auch die Tour 2005 bis in die rumänische Hauptstadt Bukarest bestritten. Ende 2005 beschlossen Holger und Helge, die zweite CD mit rumänischen Gast-Musikern in Rumänien zu produzieren. Das Album "Before The Final Journey" wurde Anfang 2006 im Neo Sonix - Studio / Timisoara fertiggestellt und verzeichnete viele positive Rezensionen in den nationalen und internationalen Medien.
Im Anschluß an die CD-Produktion konnten AMATRIS einen Vertrag beim deutschen Label und Vertrieb TWILIGHT unterzeichnen. Holger und Helge stellten danach wieder ein festes deutsches Line-Up zusammen und gingen im Sommer 2006 auf Tour durch Deutschland, die Slowakei und Rumänien.
Im Mai 2007 erschien das Album "Imprisoned, welches mit seinen Doom - und Death-Metal-Elementen die musikalische Vielseitigkeit von AMATRIS unterstreicht und auch live auf dem Wave Gotik Treffen präsentiert wurde.
2009 arbeitet die Band an neuen Songs.
