Influences
In the jazz world, I have been heavily influenced by legends of jazz such as Bud Powell, Thelonious Monk, Tommy Flanagan and Barry Harris who has helped me with his unmatchable potential for teaching to understand the language of bebop. Mcoy Tyner has also been a big influence as well as Herbie Hancock and Danilo Perez. David Virelles and Luis Dennis, well known as Luisito, are two young players who have tutored me throughout my jazz development. I have also been influenced by other musicians not necessarily pianists, such as Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Michael Brecker, Charlie Christian, and others.
Amaury is a Cuban born classically trained pianist, who is currently living in Canada. While in Cuba, he explored both traditional and classical Cuban compositions learning the rudiments of harmony. It was not until he moved to Canada five years ago that he began to show interest in jazz. Amaury graduated from the jazz program at Humber College last year where he took classes with fine Canadian musicians such as Kirk MacDonald, Brian Dickinson, Bernie Senensky, Hilario Duran and Dave Restivo and is presently working towards a degree in musical performance. While at Humber, he was introduced to internationally renowned jazz pianist, Barry Harris, who has widely inspired Amaury's musical work. Amaury has recently formed a quartet with fellow Humber College graduates who share the same musical appetite as him. Together they have been working on a widely varied musical repertoire and have successfully accomplished their goal........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

“Musician first, drummer second", Mark Kelso.
Bartek Kozminski has had a fascination and a passion for music from a
very early age. He began playing the piano when he was 8 years old.
Even though his interest in studying the piano didn't last long, very
quickly he found a new joy in exploring the intricacies of rhythm. Bartek
had his first informal lesson on a drum-set at the age of 12. Soon after he joined several amateur rock/blues bands and studied music in high school with jazz musician Brian Legere. By the age of 17, his taste in music had started to evolve, he became interested in a diverse spectrum of sounds, ranging from Reggae to Flamenco. As part of the process he also began playing a variety of percussion instruments which broadened his perspective and ability to musically express himself. It wasn't until the age of 20 that Bartek began his formal training with a jazz drummer, Lorne Nehring,
who was vital in his successful audition to The Humber College Jazz
Studies Program. Since that time Bartek has received a certificate for
the completion of the Intro to Jazz/Commercial Music Program and has studied with Roger Flock, Don Vicory, Ted Warren, Paul DeLong and Mark Kelso for over three years. He is currently studying with Bob McLaren and working on his Bachelor of music degree. He has remained an active drummer in Toronto, working with several musical projects as well as teaching private lessons at The Brampton Conservatory of Music. His approach to playing is 1 Musicianship2 Musicality3 time/feel/groove.
