Amazonia is St. Louis's newest bellydancing troupe, featuring: REBECCA RIVAS, HANNAH GRUBER, MAUREEN HUGHES, AND AMI SPRANDLER, of Exotic Rhythms. We love the art of dancing and the connection that builds among all who experience it.
Belly dancing is most commonly performed in Arabic homes, among women. Someone will pick up a hip scarf and start dancing after tea and chatting. The audience floods them with support and compliments and everyone takes a turn.
Belly dancing is not competitive. It is each dancer's expression of his/her life force, which originates in the womb. We love to share this art and inspire a love for dancing.
