This unique talented artist is often mistaken for the voice of Sam Cooke or Teddy Pendergrass . His tones of expressions and vocal technique are simply outstanding, and the deep soul in his voice so moving at times...... that the listener is often reminded of early R&B greats.
Anthony Silvera started his career performing in the smokey night clubs of Chicago, and listening to the wailing soulful sounds of the south delta Mississippi’s Saint Louie blues......... combined with the good news of shouting and stomping of the Northern Baptist Church.
This is where gospel spirituals meets the party people of rythem and blues on the south side of Chicago...... Home to some of the greatest singers in musical history such as Lou Rawls, Chuck Jackson, and Billy Stuarts. Silvera’s silky but some times gritty vocals is reminiscent of the late greats such as Sam Cooke ,Jonny Taylor and the soul icon Bobby Womack, with alight touch of Curtis Mayfield mixed in.
In the mid 80s he formed the T. Silvera band and toured the R&B circuit starting on the West coast playing the key stone clubs in L.A,. San Francisco to the blues alleys of Washington D.C, and ending at Pall’s Mall in Boston Massachusetts.
In 1994 on a visit to Jamaica he recorded a remix that entered into the Caribbean national charts with his version of Brian McKnight's One Last Cry and R. Kelly's For You, both rocketing to the top of the New York and Carribbean charts in 1996, and hit Caribbean single 'Cuando Cuando' which inspired an entire album entited "Ambelique Sings The Classics".
In 1997 he recorded a soul song TALK LIKE THAT (under the name of Ambelique) released on the Rag Town label. This was picked up by Kev Roberts of Gold Soul Records............. The record topped the Northern Soul charts in 2004 and remained in the top of the soul charts to 2005. The Original copies which were recorded in 1997 at one time were auctioned on Ebay for close to £100 per copy.
Silvera has toured and shared the stage with some of the most famous R&B stars, including The Manhattans, Ray Goodman and Brown and the The Ojays
performing at venues like the New York Apollo, the Palladium in Manahattan just to name a few.
His show performances often includes tributes to the late great soul artists of yesteryear thrilling highly expectant audiences and bringing them to their feet...
Silvera's music and voice is always gainng charts status like a timeless machine, coupled with an endless demand from record producers and companies.... has established him to to be one of the most popular voices on the soul circuit today. On more than one ocassion you would find him occupying a top position in various different genres of the music charts simultaneously.
As such you would find him performing on the same stage with smooth R+B Crooners such as Darnell Jones, Carl Thomas as well as the gritter artists such as Shaggy & Sean Paul.
His favourite singer is Sam Cook, for whom he did a tribute …………singing a medley of his hits as part of his performances and album that earned him the respect of
C.C.Cookie the brother on the late4 great Sam Cooke
An excellent vocal coach, he studied under the guidance of with the great Seth Riggs who has Worked and coached artists such as Stevie wonder Luther Vandross and Michael Jackson.
His R&B sound and feel......... worked beautifully on a handful of singles released after the Classic's Album e.g., Worker Man, Me Oh My, and Is It Still Good To You A super songwriter as a master lyricalist, his objective is to make timeless music that will last for generations to come and true to form has achieved this on virtually everything he has touched since re- entering the business during the mid-nineties. Now coming out of the shadows to express the deep passion of soul Anthony is set to release his new soul album.
