Amber Lee has honed her musical style in a way that can only be described as grass roots guerilla warfare - by listening and watching other musicians and by working through deep personal experiences. Though she enjoyed singing as a child, the Ontario native never struck out to be a professional musician. She was, however, always an artist at heart. She majored in film at Concordia, followed by studying business at both the Richard Ivey School of Business in Canada and The Rotterdam School of Management in the Netherlands. It wasn't until the summer after her 19th birthday that she began playing the guitar and penning songs to accompany. She was hooked and quickly thereafter she worked her way out of the living rooms of friends and into the local coffeehouses and open mics as she eventually accepted her calling.
Despite a fairly accidental and atypical start, music has been a constant thread in her life that has always pointed back towards shaping who she is as a person, a songwriter and an entertainer. Her songs weave the stories, experiences and seasoning of a poet and an explorer: loving, effusive and courageous. They are relatable, yet intensely personal.
She croons with the juxtaposition of rhythmic strength and soft spoken lyrics always accented by undertones of something gentle and true. Her original chord progressions and emotive guitar styling’s illuminate her thoughtful and indelible lyrics. And still, it's Amber’s easygoing personality, genuine enthusiasm, irrevocable humor, and ever-approachable nature that lends absolute comfort to the audiences she plays for.
Amber and co, greetings from Dublin. If you're at a loose end this weekend, check out my set at The Rockwood @ 5 pm. I don't get over there much and it'd be great to see you.
Thanks everso for the friendship and the kind words. Unfortunately I'm on a borrowed computer which has no time for FLASH and therefore won't let me hear anything from your page.
I had a band practice today with Rich and we were just talking about that time i wanted to start about with me you and Rich. We could've been on Much Music yo!
Hey Amber, It's "Reid" from high school .. which seems like a life time ago ... Anyhow I really like you're stuff. Didn't know you had this much talent!
Let us just start by apologising for this "automatic comment" thing. We know it's annoying when bands you've never heard of spam your myspace.
However, this isn't meant to be spam. This is just a humble invite for you to come to our myspace, have a listen to the music and leave us some feedback? We'd really appreciate it, and we'll always reply to you.
