“… A 750lb baby band born of 4 daddies: Tool, Incubus, Deftones, and Jim Morrison.”
Plain and simple – Rock Music. That is what Ambient Green is about. Ambient Green was complete in 2003 with Vocalist Nick Brown, Guitarists Cole Groves & Colin Gholson, Bassist Jared Park, and Drummer Gary Robinson. The group had immediate chemistry and walked in to the studio to lay down their first tracks. Ambient Green released their demo in December of 2004 with great acceptance and has become one of the most well known and notable bands in Central Illinois playing constantly in their hometown. In the winter of 2006 the group decided it was time to take it to the next level. The 5 musicians decided to get serious and lay down their first “real” project. As of September 2006 Ambient Green has released their debut full length Album, Play Ground. The group joined forces with Mark Rubel (Adrian Belew, Star Castle, and American Minor) to help co-produce/engineer the bands freshman effort.
Ambient Green’s Play Ground takes you on a journey through life, starting at a present moment in time - laden with chaos. You begin to reflect on simpler times and launch into a new world of perspective, and observe the steps taken to your present situation. Throughout carefree moments in life through ruff and rugged circumstances; you see the patterns of identity, from fable to faith, from cradle to grave, from innocence to guilt.
Humanity is tied up in this Play Ground and it is called life. Though sometimes bright and joyful, it is also painful and dark. Play Ground is Ambient Green’s brief narrative about the lives, minds, and confrontations of the children chorusing that Play Ground.
Here is a record that has understanding for everyone, young or old, and glues together the seconds of time that separate us. This is the album you will pine for when it seems like no one has been in your shoes. It will help you realize everyone is out here, and we play on the same Play Ground.
Play Ground is deep with dazzling vocals, intense lyrics, mesmerizing guitar riffs and a rhythm that drives the soul with a tribal force. This alternative prog-art rock album is capable of spanning the generations shaking and grabbing the attention of classic rockers, punkers, hardcore revelers, and the Gen-X youth of today.
Amid a stratum of instrumentation that is thick, wide and aggressive sit front man, Nick Brown’s glittering yet ethereal vocals. Ambient Green is able to combine the progressiveness of YES with the boldness and intensity of Incubus. All this while skillfully creating a tightly produced, finely tuned and orchestrated rock album appealing to indie, alternative and pop rock fans alike.
