About me:

Hi! A bit about me

Latest News...Follow this link for info on this year's

Charity Folk Festival

Too poor to be born! Mik Mead was hand sown and dragged out of the River Colne at a very early age. ..

His parents fed up with him knocking hell of the furniture with knitting needles bought him a guitar form Woolworths to kerb his ambition as a drummer. .. ..

When playing in youth clubs lost its attraction in a rock band he turned to Folk. .. ..

First Professional gigs came from having too much time on his hands at teacher training college and the group Amethyst was born. .. ..

Resident at The Pump House Folk Club in Watford lead to the start of a professional career with Graham Russell in the first version of “Earthwoode” a name which has haunted him for the rest of his life. Two years later Mik moved to the English Lake District (1976) where he currently resides. .. ..

Professional in the Lakes for two years, it can be safely said the Mik has played every Folk venue in the Lakes. .. ..

Mik was the founder and the main co-ordinator of the Langdale Charity Folk Festival. This was a unique event where no fee was paid to any helpers, organizers or performers The Festival featured top musicians such as Rick Kemp (Steeleye Span), Paul Burgess (10cc & Jethro Tull), Doug Morter, Michael Chapman, Nick Dow, Alan Bell Band, Stanley Accrington and many more local, regional and national performers.  .. ..

Mik now resides in Ambleside, Cumbria and performs regularly at The Unicorn Inn, Ambleside and the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, The Castle Pub, Millom, The Scafell Hotel, Borrowdale, local festivals, folk clubs.

Also please visit some of our other sponsors Luigi's Restaurant  and Jesters Juggling Shop and the Lakeland Web and the Plum Piano and the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel

(Hi: enjoyed my visit.)

After you've finished here, you may like to hear this poem sung on myspace...

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse
(please see my blog):
WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN

Once drove an old sedan, up north,
From a place in Sydney to Cairns;
Then to Kuranda I went forth,
By train, to look without set plans.

I browsed through the trendy market,
With fresh fruits of tropical kind;
Walked to the creek through lush thicket -
Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.

I dined in a scenic cafe;
Then, outside, as I wrote for yen,
Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey,
You go walkabout with your pen.”

Request or question, I don’t know -
Assured voices, elderly men.
That’s now several years ago,
And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.

Hi Mik

I think this is a great way of connecting Festivals. It's amazing what we all get up to. I help run a Festival in Germany which means that we quiet often play there. Check it out.
