    Audrey's Interests
GeneralWell, I'm interested in a lot! I've worked as an actress and vocalist in theater, commercials, and on film. I've been a production assistant, a digital consultant, a temporary Romanian citizen, the lead singer of a funk band, a web editor, a marathoner, a tour guide, a wine stewardess, and I'm currently a marketing nerd on the upcoming Doug Jones film, "My Name Is Jerry". Sometimes it pays to be a geek...literally. In addition, I'm a sucker for DVD special features, voice over work (Paul Frees is my hero!), stunt actors, fist person adventure games, documentaries, matte paintings, & practical effects. I will always be a Haunted Mansion fanatic! The proudest frame on my office wall contains X Atencio's autographed lyrics to, "Grim Grinning Ghosts". Some of my FAVORITE movie moments...
MusicAh, music. John Williams changed my life, and I still get misty-eyed every time I listen to "March of the slave children", "Map Room", or anything from "The Last Crusade", especially the grail theme. Fats Domino gets played an awful lot around here. I'm a U2 freak. Better just start listing...Feist, Mark Mothersbaugh. The Electric Mayhem. The Mellow Men, The Gypsy Kings, Talking Heads, Stevie Wonder, Johnny Cash, Seu Jorge, Israel Kamakawiwo, the Psalters, the Pretenders, David Bowie. Huey Lewis, LOTS of soundtracks and film score, Disney music, Bobby McFerrin, Delar Mehndi, Al Greene, Otis Rhedding, Miles Davis, They Might Be Giants, Bobby Darin, Duran Duran, Aretha Franklin, Danny Elfman, Gershwin, James Brown, Flaming Lips, Wesley Willis, Jimi Hendrix, Irving Berlin, Harry Connick Jr., Eurythmics, Weezer, and anything 80's. I think my favorite song in the world is "Belong" from the Jerk.
MoviesIn case it wasn't obvious enough, The Indiana Jones trilogy. Adventure is my genre of choice, with old Hollywood flicks following at a close second. Star Wars trilogy, The Goonies, Lost in La Mancha, Monster Squad, Galaxy Quest, Edward Scissorhands, The Princess Bride, The Rocketeer, Johnny Dangerously, That Thing You Do, Splash, Jurassic Park, Romancing the Stone, All the Muppet Movies, Lola Rennt, All things Marx Bros., The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, Pee Wee's Big Adventure (my all time fave!), Amadeus, Labyrinth, Bedknobs & Broomsticks, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Little Miss Sunshine, Big, The Hudsucker Proxy, Stranger than Fiction, Mystery Men, anything Tim Burton, Clue, The Three Amigos, Love Actually, anything by Frank Oz, the Great New Wonderful, Christopher Guest, anything with Bill Murray, The Pink Panther Strikes Again, Hellboy, Nine Innings from Ground Zero, The Descent, Little Voice, Down With Love, Radioland Murders, Sleuth, Bridget Jones' Diary, Return to Me. Most of Wes Anderson's stuff, though I Hated the Darjeeling Limited. The Girl in the Cafe is nearly perfect and serves a beautiful purpose. I still quite enjoy the first Tomb Raider movie, no use trying to talk me out of it.
TelevisionI like a lot of older shows that I can get on Netflix like Animaniacs and Magnum P.I. I, like the rest of the free world, love Flight of the Conchords. I'm a geek for Futurama, Golden Girls, Star Trek:TNG, Late Night with Conan, Medium, Brisco County Jr., & LOST. Destination Truth and Man vs. Wild always hold my rapt and full attention. I love anything on National Geographic or PBS. Specifically Independant Lens or Nature, documentaries disguised as television shows are the best. Sneaky culture. I haven't said enough about Star Trek: The Next Generation. That was my favorite show growing up, and it sparked a lot of good conversations in my house as a kid about phasers, warp cores, and VISORs. I still don't think that show gets enough credit for how genuinely cool it was, and I wish it could've had just a couple more seasons.
BooksI'm pretty big on non-fiction. I just recently started "The Artist's Way" and its been pretty impactful so far. More you say? Sit Ubu, Sit, Who Rules America?, If Chins Could Kill, "I hated hated hated this movie" by Roger Ebert. Harry Potter, of course. Henri Nouwen, Donald Miller, Bill Bryson, C.S. Lewis, Nick Hornby, Douglas Adams, That one "Good Book", Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (I LOVE SHERLOCK HOLMES stories!), Arthur C. Clarke, Ogden Nash, and of course Tolkein. The Power of One, Healing America's Wounds, I super love Rudyard Kipling. Pedagogy of the Oppressed, and anything David Sedaris. I'll read anything once. And yes, I do mean anything...so don't go sending me smart-mouth messages like, "Well, what about a book by (insert insidious criminal here)?" I think one of the biggest mistakes we make in this world is to stay ignorant of information, even if its information we completely disagree with.
HeroesJesus, and I don't say that superficially or sarcastically. Of course, my AMAZING husband Jake, who I love with ALL my little heart. Third would be anyone living their dream, full steam ahead. Just anyone doing what they truly love to do for a living!

About me:
I'm a professional freelance writer, who has written for Geek Monthly, Animation World Magazine, the Burnside Writers Collective, EHow.com, Associated Content, Haunted Attractions, and more. I'm over the moon about movies. I love action heroines, adventure flicks, comics, and classic cartoons. I enjoy thrill rides and theme parks and I find massive quantities of inspiration from all things Disney and Henson. I've written and edited two WGA and LOC registered screenplays with my husband/writing partner, and I'm finishing a third. Someday I'll FINALLY finish a book...and then we're all in trouble.

"Acting"...below at the 6:10 mark on the "Cultural Trail" video done by the Center for Media Design for the City of Indianapolis. Pouring on the corporate cheese...and below that, an experiemental short testing some animation. What can I say? I'm mostly a theater gal, but I do have a new mockumentary coming starring yours truly, "Liza Minnelli's Daughter".
Who I'd like to meet:
Well, I just met Doug Jones! So...it'll take me a while to calm down. Would've loved to have met Gilda Radner and Madeline Kahn. I would LOVE to meet Catherine O'Hara, Bonnie Hunt, Tina Fey, Molly Shannon, Leslie Hall, Joan Cusack, Anjelica Huston, and especially Bea Arthur. Wouldn't mind running into Alan Rickman, Ron Perlman, Bill Nighy, Bob Hoskins, Bruce Dern, or Patrick Stewart. LOVE Kate Capshaw, & Karen Allen...have to meet the Indy girls!

Oh I spent many an hour watching Danny Kaye movies when I was a kid. He was just the coolest. I loved Thumbelina. Two and two are four, four and four are eight, eight and eight are sixteen, sixteen and sixteen are thirty two.
Okay now I win for longest.

Hey A,

It's actually a vampire hamster. Sort of an inside joke from the Ghosthunters website that I've been known to frequent from time to time.

Aug 15 2008 8:17 AM

You're crazy! I haven't seen it yet, and that linked review says I don't have rights to read it. Self. I've been in solid work mode all week and FORGOT YES FORGOT it was coming [I actually had it in my head as next week sometime like the 18th which is silly cuz movies don't come out on Mondays]

Hope it's good, but from your tone it's not. And don't take that tone with me, young lady.
Natalie

Thanks, Audrey! At first, when I saw your picture, I thought that you were skate boarding.

It could have been worse. You could have made your Chewbecca figure enter an Ewok-tossing contest. Um. I didn't do that. It's just an example. Nor did Teela make out with He-Man.
