Ameera Perkins is destined for stardom. She truly satisfies the definition of an artist on the rise. Born in Cincinnati, OH Ameera began singing at the age of seven. Family and friends began to realize that she had a great gift that should be nurtered and not wasted. She began to sing in a city-wide gospel group called Vessels of Praise, headed by gospel icon Ricky Dillard. There, she began to open up and feel her music. While in Vessels of Praise, she formed a group called K.W.A with her cousin. In this group, Ameera wrote all the songs and choreographed their dances.
Ameera truly showcased her leadership abilities at a young age. Ameera has always had a love for writing books and musicals, which triggered her to take much interest in Musical Theater.She enrolled in the Cincinnati Black Theater Company at the age of ten. Ameera starred in "Addy Saves the Day", a play from from the book series The American Girls Collection, as Addy. She also starred in CBTC's The Wiz as Dorothy.
In 2002 she auditioned for The School of Creative and Performing Arts and was accepted. Her fields of study we're Drama, Vocal Music and Musical Theater. In Drama she excelled by earning the "Best Dialect" award and was favorited by proffesors for her outstanding ability to improvise. In vocal Music and Music theater she was favorited for her wide range and ability to demonstrate diffrent styles from jazz to opera. Ameera also recieved the award as "Cincinnati's Future Idol". Entering into Columbia College of Chicago in 2008, she perfected her craft and gained a lot of respect from students, advisors and fans for her vocal ability and originality with her own music. In 2009 Ameera auditioned for Diddy's Making His Band and was chosen out of thousands to participate in the reality show airing July 27th. Overall, Ameera's music style is R&B/Jazz and Pop. Music is her passion and achieving is her call.
