California-born vocalist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Amelia Ray currently resides in Madrid where she performs original soul rock music solo, and with her band, The Conjugal Experiment. A young music scene veteran, Amelia has been performing in the United States and in Europe for almost 20 years. She has shared the stage with Chuck Rainey, Elliott Randall, Rob Bargad, Maia Sharp and Kenny Aronoff, to name a few. Since her arrival in Spain, she has graced such renowned stages as Sala Clamores and The Bourbon Cafe in Madrid, and has participated in the International Festival of the Arts of Castille and Leon in Salamanca.
Following the release of ON, her sixth independent studio album since 1993, Ray embarked on successful tours of Austria, Slovakia, Poland, Germany, France and Spain, appearing at such festivals as FestDobréBohunice (SK), Altstadtzauber Klagenfurt (AT), the International Festival of the Arts of Castille and Léon, Jazz Festival Madrid, and the Blues Festival of Ponferrada (ES). Ray is currently working on a new album, borne out of her stay in Iceland's Skriduklaustur residency program last year.
Amelia's songs have been featured in films such as the Italian documentary Leaning Left, the German documentary Schwarzenberg (2007), and the powerful film about forgiveness, "A Killing in Choctaw" (2004). Her version of "To Turn You On" was recently included on the "Take Refuge in Pleasure: The Songs of Roxy Music Music Revisted"compilation.
I noticed the upload and I had to check out your new song "To Turn You On" and I was just taken back on the production!! Awesome vocals Amelia and I love funky guitars and Funk like music in general. Then I let the player roll on with the Arsonist - really neat vocals with the wavering distorted effect and it was another great song. You Got Soul !!
