About American Diary [Bourbon St 7/16 & RECHER THTR 8/1]
At the end of an old decade, American Diary’s intensely seductive alternative punk-rock sound is exactly what the music industry ordered. Innovative musicianship behind impossibly catchy melodies and the lyrical gift to bring words to life will have fans and new listeners alike turning their stereo volumes to ‘max’ and wondering why their necks hurt the next morning. The born and raised Baltimore, Maryland trio is finally back in the studio with producer/engineer Paul Leavitt, (Senses Fail, The Graduate, All Time Low) working on new demos for their upcoming 14 track LP after touring and promoting their previously released EP, “The Brightest Colors,” from May 23rd until the dawn of 2009. Working hard now but playing much harder later must be the American Diary way of things seeing as they have outsold many already established ‘indie’ bands by independently releasing and selling 10,000+ units of “The Brightest Colors” EP, as well as over 4,000 copies of their Japanese release, “Life Without Living,” in just two years, as well as a random rotation spot on Baltimore's Rock Radio Station 98 Rock (97.9). All the while maintaining their never waning reputation for having a great time.
Incredibly these feats seem dwarfed by the nearly 45,000 miles travelled since May of ‘08, (during the highest gas prices in United States history) from independent touring as well as following and playing select dates on the 2008 Vans Warped Tour. Earning respect and credibility through the notoriety of their work ethics and sharing the stage with bands such as Angels and Airwaves, Yellowcard, Mae, Over It, All Time Low, Self Against City, Friday Night Boys, Boys Like Girls, Jimmies Chicken Shack, The Dangerous Summer, Mercy Mercedes, Valencia, Hit the Lights, Wakefield, The High Court, Sound the Alarm, Four Year Strong and so many more are what has earned American Diary a dedicated national following to be proud of. A refreshing new sound and their “all or nothing” attitudes are what make American Diary a band you can’t help but be proud to support and tell your friends about. This band puts real passion, heart and hard work into everything they do regardless of a declining digitally enhanced music industry.
