The Miracle Kids Wish Network contacted Rich about letting a little 4 year old boy named Mikey come to visit him and watch him train for a day. This meeting took place on April 11th. When Mikey was born, he weighed only 4 1/2 lbs. He was born with a congenital heart defect that combines four structural anomalies and also has something called Vater Syndrome.

Rich Franklin recently finished his military meet and greet tour for the Navy's Fleet & Family Readiness Division overseas and we wanted to pass along a message from a fan he just met that is currently serving in the U.S. Navy:
Hello,
My name is Adam Garcia and I am currently serving in the U.S. Navy onboard the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) We just recently had Rich Franklin come on board to meet and greet the crew. Being this far into the deployment it was so awesome having him on board to give that extra boost of morale to do that extra push to finish up this deployment and get home to my family. It was more of a boost for me since Cincinnati is my home town and I am moving back there in 10 months when I am out of the service. I just wanted to write and say from the bottom of my heart thanks a lot. Here is a picture of Rich and I on board the ship.

We are very sorry to hear of the passing of Evan Tanner. Evan was very special to us as he gave Rich Franklin his start in the UFC and because of Evan's graciousness and professionalism, allowed us to follow in his footsteps and maintain that level of competition that we follow today. We will miss you and we hope the best for your family and friends!

Official Rich Franklin Day
The Mayor of Cincinnati announced that February 21st, 2006 is officially American Fighter/ Rich Franklin Day in the city of Cincinnati. This is quite an honor, one that doesn't come to many people. A special announcement was made on 1360 Homer as Rich talked with Lance McAlister on the radio. Congrats to Rich. Keep doing good things for American Fighter and for the Keep It In The Ring Foundation.
